So, guys, what's the most expensive record you've purchased?

Just grabbed myself the last copy of Krystal - Burning Flame for $220

Posted by Teezdalien on Dec-23-2010 09:07:

Christ! I don't think I've ever paid more than $30 for a record. I just can't justify it in my own mind.

Posted by stealthman on Dec-23-2010 09:08:

Sometimes... money simply just pales in comparison to the value of a solid record.

Posted by Teezdalien on Dec-23-2010 09:19:

Well if I were a wealthy person, maybe my opinion would differ. I certainly understand the sentimental value of some records and have many I wouldn't part with for anything, but I still can't bring myself to pay an astronomical figure for a record.

Damn man...It's Christmas. Wish I could work with some penalty rates and earn some extra coin. Been digging through cheap bins lately at my nearest record shops.

Posted by netroM on Dec-23-2010 10:24:

My most expensive is prolly around $40 or so. Can't remember which one, though.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-23-2010 16:15:

Young American Primitive - Young American Primitive

And that was heavily discounted. Came to about 40 overall, as I recall.

Posted by LiQuiD_FuSioN on Dec-23-2010 16:56:

Let's see.. I paid $53.33 (not incl. shipping) for the double CD compilation of "Northern Exposure" by Sasha & John Digweed and $40 for the "Nirwana" album by Ayla. Those are the highest prices I've paid for stuff this year.

I'm guessing the OP bought the CD Maxi version of the rls in question? Serious ouch, but as long as you absolutely love it!

I'd love to have the Andain - Beautiful Things CD Maxi, but it's way too expensive at 75 sadly. Don't love it that bad, but it's annoying though.

Christ on a bike. What on earth possessed you into thinking that any 12" is worth that much money, let alone a single-sided '99 trance 12"?

I shelled out about $80 for this: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Untitled/release/208672, which was far too much, despite all the great music on it.

Posted by RebeL9 on Dec-23-2010 20:55:

It's funny how you sometimes buy a record just randomly and then many years later find out that it have increased dramatically in price.

For instance I bought this one back in 1998: http://www.discogs.com/Dreamweaver-...s/release/70379
I saw it in the record store and was like "nice a new swedish goa trance producer, let's try it".
Now i discovered that it goes for around 100. It's freaking insane.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Dec-23-2010 21:03:

I've never paid over 30 for a record, and even then I'd think twice before buying anything. I generally never even buy any "regular" record for a normal price, almost everything I do buy is from the bargain bin.

It's ridiculous how much people are willing to pay for some records - I've recently discovered I seem to own a fair few records that people are willing to pay a lot of - and I've bought them all from bargain bins, sometimes just mere months ago.

For example, someone bought this record for 72 when I paid about 5 for it less than a year ago.

$40 -- Platipus - Orange (Lp)

Posted by Alpha Hinge on Dec-24-2010 03:59:

I paid 50 dollars for a sealed copy of this

http://www.discogs.com/Various-Wipe...k/release/35408

this was a landmark compilation for me, so it has justifiable value.

Where the fuck are you people paying these sorts of prices for these records? I need to get in on this action - I have so much shit I want to shift.

GEMM was a favorite.. And Hardtofindrecords.com but that was back in the Vinyl days. I don't think I've purchased a piece of music in forever.

Surely, it isn't worth that price, but a devoted addict's gotta do what he has to do and that record is rare as fuck.

The album. Greg sold a limited number of the original CDs on eBay for discount prices earlier this year when they re-released the album on digital. Given it usually goes for about 100 and the artist was getting all the money I thought I'd indulge in it.
