New Year in Vegas

Hi I will be spending New Year in Vegas this year (woo hoo!) have never been so have no idea what to expect. Firstly I expect it to be cold but looking at some pics of people in December they are wearing t-shirts... so I am a little confused. Also for the NYE celebrations is there a street party type atmosphere or is it generally centred around the hotels?

You can wear a Tshirt. It's not that cold sometimes. The BIGGEST party is on the streets. Everyone walks around the streets until midnight. At midnight the streets get JAMMED packed while everyone watches the fireworks. Think of it like the ball dropping in NYC, but here its just fireworks. A few of the main streets get shut down only available to pedestrians.

After the fireworks, the crowd disperses slowly walking around etc etc. People head into the casinos into the night clubs and so on...
