I was thinking about posting this but I had no idea where to do it.

I find it kind of amazing that someone can come into a scene and in less than two years literally dominate it with some of the best songwriting that uplifting trance has ever seen, get a massive response, and then lose their passion for it.

His film score stuff is amazing too, though, but I really am upset that I won't see anything else by him. Fuck, he inspired me so much when I was really starting to develop my style.

oh well.

maybe i should post in a blogg too that i left trance 3 years ago. im really sorry folks but it is the truth. no more trance from me. i had to move on because of personal reasons. why do anyone need to decide on such things and then tell about it? if he released music in different genres i guess the fans would understand it themselves after some time. its perfectly natural to move on from one genre to another one, and basically every producer does it. why make a post about evolution and claim it to being revolution?

Its Robby's fault, he must have checked out his wip

Oh come on, don't make it seem like a usual thing for an uplifting trance producer to suddenly quit when they're on top and go for something like film scores. He has a very loyal fanbase and he's letting them know that they shouldn't expect anything new from him, how is that unreasonable?

Posted by Kysora on Dec-30-2010 21:32:

I bet it was his remixes of Serenity. Seriously, there's absolutely no way he could have topped that. That was unquestionably the top of his game and his subsequent remixes weren't anywhere near as good as that. Hell even his track Florescence wasn't too good compared to it.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Dec-30-2010 21:37:

i listened to Afternova - Serenity (Andy Blueman Remix) just to find out whats the fuzz about and i gotta say; whats the fuzz about? its like any other trance track the last 6 years? the melody is a mess, the drums are generic, it has no pulse. if this is what trance is then he should move on yes. also mixdowns are very muddy and compressed to shit.

Posted by Subtle on Dec-30-2010 21:38:

Good choice.

uh what makes you think drums would add anything to that track? he obviously focuses on melodies, not percussion, whether or not you think that's a bad thing probably determines if you like him or not but he's not a bad musician because of it.

usually good percussion can only help a track, it wont take away the focus from the melody, if he is so afraid of drums maybe he should try make some classical comps instead. im not having a go at his music really but the fact that he felt the need to make a blogpost about something as traditional as evolving is weird. airbase did the same years ago and look whos still making trance.

So I guess he wasn't making worthwhile money out of it either.

Average percussion doesn't take away from a track either, especially one that's so obviously focused on songwriting over a "pulse". Nobody will ever dance to something like that and I'm pretty sure Blueman knows it.

I also don't know why you think it's weird that he decided to put in his blog that he's completely changing the direction he's going in music. It's not like he released a press statement about it or anything, just posted it on his Myspace.

Posted by Aesthetic on Dec-30-2010 23:01:

I grew up on uplifting so I will never ever get tired of the "messy melodies" as per ken_lee's statement.

Sad this guy is leaving, he put out some quality epics over the last couple of years, I don't think it is forever though

Posted by music2dance2 on Dec-30-2010 23:24:

I've heard his name on here a few times but dont know who he is, think ill check out his tracks soon.

Shame as he says that if film doesnt work out he will quit music. By the sounds of it to have 3 good years and move on then if things dont work out quit music altogether is harsh. You would have thought he'd prob still do something to do with music if all else fails, afterall its hard to quit a passion I believe. But not that it doesnt happen.

no one knows this before his next release really, so its pretty pointless to say it. its like im saying im gonna write a book, who cares. if i actually have written a book it might be worth telling about. he should have waited until he actually got any material to prove this "radical change" to avoid looking like a salesman. i hate empty adverts and i must comment on it, sorry. how i consider it now is that he is done with music for good and found out it payed of better working as a paperboy. people who say what they are going to do always fail at doing it, its almost a rule of thumb. he is an ass not knowing this.

Posted by Aesthetic on Dec-30-2010 23:52:

Honestly Palm, you look like you're just typing shit for the sake of it now. It's his blog, he can write whatever the hell he wants to on it.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Dec-30-2010 23:57:

im serious its never clever to give away your future plans, people will comment you on it when u fail at it.

Someone on TED said that vocalizing our goals gives us part of the social satisfaction of achieving them; therefore, we are less likely to achieve them.

I can't say I am on here to make music.

What's the difference between writing for percussion and song writing?

Posted by Zak McKracken on Dec-31-2010 00:37:

i think songwriting is when you dont want the crowd to dance to it.
