The M3D's do have weights on the headshell, but they are removable, but don't lose them if that is what you have casue you never know when you are goin to need them.

Question

Will this headshell be fine for my TECHNICS - SL-1210 MK II?

for 7.90.Euro.

Yup it will be fine. Any headshell is fine, but the difference between brand headshells (technics, stanton, vestax) and cheap ones, is that the brand ones are more robust.

The one your pic is showing is a standard Technics one, so it's good.

depends on the cartridges ...

the other rectangular ones do need a headshell

There are two kinds of cartridges.

Those who need headshells are commonly referred as headshell mounts. It's pretty difficult to mount the carts on the headshell at first (especially if you have big fingers...). The advantage of such carts is that you have more control. This is more important for turntablists than for mixologists. A common thing to do by turntablists is to angle the cartridge a little bit inwards, to get better grip.

Then you have the all-in-one carts, called P-mount types. Ortofon Concordes, Stanton Trackmasters, Tonar Banana's. Those are P-mounts. They are easier to install (screw them in the arm and voila it's done). Keep in mind they were designed for S-shaped tone arms. You can use them on tables with straight arms, but it will increase both the stylus and record wear (a popular misbelief is that the cartridge should be installed straight on the headshell when using a STR8 arm turntable. It should be angled inwards a little bit...)

BTW : with more robust I meant it was more solid. You'll find that on many budget headshells, the lift arm (the part you lift the headshell with) will tend to bend VERY easily.
