No one has anything to say

In Electronic Wet Dream, I'm almost positive I heard a Preset Arp from sytrus plugin in fl studios :/ not original in that aspect. Did you equalize anything? the dynamics are very messy, very loud. Interesting direction with the techno metal thing, there were some kinda cool rifs. Go back and equalize your tracks, its all in the mixdown.

Thanks for the feedback. It is from FL. I bought it about 4 months ago and I'm still figuring out sytrus. Very complex but that means it has depth too I suppose. I'd EQ it but apparently not very well. Like I said I'm still fairly new. I'll see if I can find some EQ tutorials. Thanks again. I'll see if I can improve

For sure man, When you link an instrument to the mixer in fl stuido, you can select Fruity Parametic EQ 2 in the little drop down box to the right of the mixer channels. That has been my favorite EQ tool to use. You can control all aspects of the sound, I usually just use the main nob that brings the whole db level of the sound down. Its a great lil tool. You might have already known that, but o well its a good tool. keep workin on it!

Just an update for everyone I've been working alot on my EQing and I feel I'm getting much better. Trial and error seems to be helping alot along with the tutorials I've been reading. I haven't put them in the player yet but I'm still working. Thanks

for sure keep at it! the master tutorial list has some great reads. if you need any opinion or have questions on equalizing you can pm me anytime!

I've been checking out the Master thread. Its awesome. I learned alot more than just about EQing Would you recommend EQing each synth AND the master channel? Thats how I've been learning to do it and I haven't seen anywhere that says anything different but I thought I would just double check. I do each synth individually. Like the Bass I EQ so that the higher freq's aren't very present and vice versa for lead synths and so forth. And then after I EQ all the synths I work on the master. Does this sound like a good battle plan? Thanks!

I don't know much about mastering to be honest, But it sounds like what your doing is fine. Just make sure your track never hits 0 in the master channel! If it does, the sounds tend to clip.

Yea. I tend to turn the master down to about -3Db. It helps to keep them from hitting 0. Thanks for all the advice. If you care to hear the tracks after I EQ them and upload them I can PM you

I would love to here them after you eq them. I'm working on some things, I have a thick writers block right now though -.- Do you play guitar?

Electronic Wet Dream

Yeah, there are some ideas in here but it does sound like most of the synths are presets or loops, and it's very messy sounding.

The kick drum sounds almost non existent man, I can barely hear it, the clap has no transient punch to it and the track is missing a groove.

The gated synth sounds very muffled and strange and off time frequently, though I don't know if that was a stylistic thing you did intentionally or not.

The track also has what I call wall-of-sound-itis, where everything is just VOLUUUUUUUUUUUMEEEEEEEEEEEEE for a few minutes and the tracks don't have any ups or downs and it looses it's effect.

Last Stand

CLIPPPPPPPPINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG + wall of sound + off time guitar (synth?)

I listened to the rest of the tracks as well but they all show the same issues the previous ones do.

With all that said, there's potential in the concept though. Just keep at it.

Thanks for the critiquing. A lot of the newer stuff I've been working on is more dynamic. I had been told the same thing by my friends. When I look back at previous tracks I'm now noticing the same things you guys did which I didn't even realize was a problem before so I guess that means I'm improving. Sorry if the songs lack groove. Before a few months ago I had only composed Metal and you don't concern yourself to much with groove in that genre. Its more of very heavy melodic riffs and then the whole "dun dun dun... dun dun... dun dun dun... " scheme lol.

Yea I do play guitar sicc. That is actually what Last Stand was written on. I wrote if for a metal band that I'm in and then made that version. Writers block sucks but I've found the best way to get around it, for me at least, is to just practice and experiment. Thats always seems to help me. Do you have music up anywhere? I'd love to hear.
