Moody!

I like it so far

Definately worth persevering with this. Could be wuite the dark track when it's done.

Nicely menacing and I like the well eq'd stripped back drums.
The syncy resonant synth here and there jarrs the rest of the atmo though, but of course thats just my dumbass taste.

Thanks man, I'm glad you like where it went Still gotta listen to it on speakers and in the car but I think it sounds OK.

Decided to have one more go before bed, added some FX and extended the end a little bit, getting closer to having a finished song but the very ending is pretty lame at the moment.

Damn nice hook at 00:22. Kept me listening 100%.

Haven't heard anything resembling a Ts404 in awhile, brings back oldschool fruity memories.

Hoping the build at 3:13 will lead to epic.

Liked where it went for sure...could benefit from some kind of signature line/melody, maybe somewhere for that build to lead into where everything gets tied together. (personal preference in what I like though...)

Slick piece of work, definitely enjoyed it and it was quite different than what I'm used to hearing.

(So nice to have my PC back again so I can listen to new music again )

Took the intro in a slightly different direction by adding another synth and using it to get the track rolling right off the bat, let me know what you guys think of this compared to the other versions, thanks

sounds very good!! left SC comments.. as a constructive critic I would work some variations to the main melody!

Posted by theterran on Jan-15-2011 02:21:

Gotta be honest...I'm actually not really sure what you've added. :S

To me the song is like delicious dark chocolate cake, silky and sumptuous but there's no frosting. After the 6th or so listen my brain shuts off around 3:15 and refuses to listen anymore. I think said TS404 synth is to blame, and it adds a bit of unnecessary redundancy to the track. I think this is compounded with the fact that both that and the proggy plucks are bouncing up and down together and in a similar fashion, in a similar chord progression.

Might be down to taste too, but I'm not a fan of songs that progress while not really getting anywhere. Funny story, I typically doubt my own intuition with regards to my constructive criticism so I always end up sharing alot of these TA tracks with my friends to see what they say...To my surprise, they often have quite similar opinions. I don't ever say it, but alot of my feedback actually comes from 5-10 other people including my own. (Not to say that it makes mine more right, but that I'm giving a more generally noted criticism...the aim is to steer away from my own direct bias)

Anyway...the break seems to accentuate that something is about to happen, but nothing ever does. (And it makes me go HNRNRNFFFFFFFFFF inside) If anything, a less dramatic break might even up the track a bit.

Other than that, like I said earlier, the dark vibe is nice as well as the groove and I love everything before the first break, it just misses that yummy rainbow chip frosting that the break promises. (least for me)

Will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks

From around 1:06 to 1:20, starting the track of differently. I added another instrument, but it just plays in that one part. It would be cool if I could add some other parts with it too. The instrument is the Jupiter V8, btw, giving it a bit of a trippy feel. I have considered using it less in the track. Will give it another go tonight also

Ah. No worries...(still kinda new to the names/sounds of all the synths etc...so I try to go off of sound similarity, and it is quite akin to FL's TS404)

Wasn't saying to use that synth less...but to weave something in that goes somewhere with it and defines the piece after the build.

And don't tell Brad that you used something once randomly, he might lecture you about form xD (kidding of course)

Posted by Evolve140 on Jan-15-2011 23:32:

I might just take the track from start to around 2:50 or so, and keep that, while trying to build the rest from that. I like the high energy release around 1:00-1:20.
