Can't believe Miami didn't post this!

Bah! I've been out of the loop since I started my job a few months ago. Sweet!

haha i was waiting for him to post too seems like he's the biggest proponent of torq here. i really enjoy it myself and i'm glad to see that not only is it not dead, but they're making great advancements

Is torq 2.0 a software update?
Is torq itself good as a cheaper alternative to serato, with technics 1210s?

Finally got some time to try out the demo. It's really a rebuild from the ground up. My biggest gripe (the browser) has been fixed and is super fast.

With four decks, multiple sample banks, elastique time stretching, and some unique build in effects, Id say it's on par now with all the competitors.

Also, you don't need the conectiv dongle to use the new version which is great for mobile setups.

All in all, you guys should check out the free demo at least and see for yourself.

Question? What type of interface can you use? I have an audio 8, will that work with 2.0 if I want to add a third cdj for external control.

Yeah it should work just fine.

I use what is essentially an audio 8 built into my Evo 5 mixer with no problems.

Cool thanks Miami. I just downloaded the trial version. Hoping to have a little more success with 2.0. Has anyone tried it? Any sort of stability issues or latency issues?

I heard mixed feelings about the upgrade but after trying it out i like the new version. Might pay for the upgrade. The only problem i have is all the sync functions. They get in the way and i wish i could shut them off.

No problems for me with latency or stability, there are a few people on the torq boards who are having some serious issues but I can't say anything bad has happened to me. I used it live for the first time last friday and it was rock solid for 3 hours. I have been playing with 4 decks (2 MIDI and 2 external) and that has been one of the most fun aspects of it. Totally worth it in my opinion.

I finally had an entire weekend to mess with it. 2.0 is very nice, and much better as far response. I was only using two decks but everything was spot on.

Thanks again for all the help.

Does anyone know of any other interfaces that can work with 2.0? I'm looking for something that has at least three in and outs. Line level, doesn't need to have phono inputs. I was using an audio 8 but it took a dump on me. Where I normally buy gear, the store is out of 8's. Any ideas of an interface that is equal to the 8? Thanks.

The Audio 8 fucked up on you as well?
Any idea what happened with it?
Can't believe that, it's fucked up on me in the past as well but i was within the 2 year warranty period by 3 weeks.

Replacement was sent quick enough in fairness.

Not exactly sure. I was putting together some ideas for a party I'm working Saturday, and the 8's outputs to the mixer quit passing signal. The inputs are fine, USB is fine, just not the outputs. Checked the mixer out and all was fine. I wish it was the mixer because I have spares. Weird that all the outputs went out. I brought it to the shop today and will hopefully have time to figure out it's problem.

I ended up ordering the new Audio 10. As far as my Audio 8, after a little surgery, I finally got it working. Turned out to be a cold solder joint. All is well for my weekend gig.

Glad to hear that

Pity about the cold soldering joint.

Does anyone know if it's possible to stop loop points from snapping to 1/16th beats etc in Torq 2.0?

I have RTFM and p.45 implies that all you can do is stop it from snapping the start point, but it will always make the length a whole number of 1/16th notes. But that sounds a bit mad to me... I've got tracks for which Torq gets the tempo wrong, so with those if I try to set a loop it'll be out of time.

Am I missing something?
