Make a track in mono with no reverb or delay

And see if you can make it still sound good.

Anyone want to try it?

Haha not a chance for me. I'd like to see what other people can do though, good idea

Pads and long decay. A lot of samples already have verb on them. You could also use a texture sound.

ok, lets make it a bit harder, MIDI instruments ONLY, verbs turned of.
pure midi programming, show your mono dry skills

MIDI might be possible, I'll see what I can do

Interesting test. But I still have to make some time to experiment playing some piano chords instead of voice trough a vocoder..

Taking out delay doesn't fuck up that much as delay can be simulated w/out using delay. Although w/out even doing that I still think sounds can be layered to give them enough a delay type feel.

Taking out reverb is the bitch though. Reverb simulates warmth, space, gives sounds more dimension. Its likely possible to make something that still sounds good, I just don't think it will be easy by any means. Maybe if I play with sustain settings idk. I don't really care about mono I think that can be worked around but I'm not avoiding samples. If you're using 1 shots you really don't need to worry about reverb/delay even if they're on a sample you're likely not hearing them too well or even at all.
