Unhappy RIP Maj. Richard "Dick" Winters

Just saw this on another forum, and anyone who saw Band of Brothers knew how truly great a leader this man was and exemplified the greatest generation.

He was 92. RIP.

His name deserves a giant snow cock erected in his memory.

Oh man, my favourite character from that show and consequently one of my favourite actual soldiers in history.

The word hero gets bandied about way too much these days but that man certainly was one hell of a hero. It actually almost brings a tear to my eye.

Saw this on the news the other day, but I haven't gotten a chance to see the show yet. Still, RIP.

Yea, seriously. The last episode is like eye candy... Amazing locales, makes me want to go to Europe BAD.

Band Of Brothers shits all over any war movie or series done in the last decade. They didn't go all out "USA USA USA!" like most efforts in that time period, and actually was way more "authentic" than i ever expected it to be. I've watched this series multiple times, and i will never get sick of it. The best time to watch is when you are sick and can watch the whole thing in one day.

That being said, I wish i could say the same thing about The Pacific. Not that it was horrible or anything...they just did not hit any chords like with Band Of Brothers.

I haven't watched the pacific, just because I fear it won't live up to BoB enough that I can appreciate it.

Also the Pacific theatre is just way more fucked up... Its sort of a creepy campaign to watch. Flags of Our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima was enough to put me off the Pacific theatre for a while... Which is saying something because it was my favorite theatre to study as a child since all my relatives fought in it.

I had family on both sides of WW2. I hate jews so i think i would like a better ending to BOB but whatev.

The Pacific is good but it doesn't quite pull at the heart strings like BoB did. Still worth watching though (Nou).
