Smiley DJ Godskitchen - Summer Trance

On August 12th legendary Birmingham super-club Godskitchen bring you 'Summer Trance,' the latest in their critically acclaimed compilation series and a fitting testament to their recent sell-out Global Gathering festival.

'Summer Trance' is a pure re-creation of that breathtaking feeling when the music is the only thing that matters. An album that comes as close as you can get to that rush of standing shoulder to shoulder with thousands of people, hands held high in anticipation as hypnotic synths and thunderous kick drums fill the night, pushing you on until the sun rises.

'Summer Trance' brings you this season's hottest promos, with the Grinder remix of Marco V's 'Indicator', Morb's 'Tornado' and the Bellefire mix of Bocca's 'Play With Me' all vying for anthem status. This is dance music to stir the emotions and with the Jurgen Vries stormer 'The Theme,' the awe inspiring Marco V mix of the seminal 'Caf del Mar' by Energy 52,' 'Another Dimension' by Airwave and 'Back to Cali' by Mauro Picotto these three CDs will exhilarate you from start to finish.

seems to be neat

hehehe, nicked one of the big billboards advertising this @ global gathering as a momento its an alrite cd, quite a few popular-trance tracks in there, but well made up for in other beasts like hemstock & jennings remix of mooga + crimson soil!

nah, I have all the godskitchen albums and i don't think anything will beat 'Journeys'

p.s. Fergie is shit

Posted by pgreeny on Aug-06-2002 15:50:

yeh man journeys is by far the best but this one could b a close challenger!

Posted by eXos on Aug-11-2002 20:09:

Yea that is putting me off as well, and the fact that Fergie mixed cd 3

Posted by djshorts on Aug-14-2002 03:04:

cd 2 is amazing, but cd 3 is well fergie... fergie has ripped off Marco V's style and its blatently obvious!

i think he needs to go back and produce another record with Bk just like hoovers and horns!

CD 2 gives me a feeling that John '00' didn't choose the tracks... When did u hear him spin Punk, Southern Sun, Forever, The Theme, PPk etc.. etc..??? Reminds me of Ferry putting his name the on Trance Nation albums...

CD1 seems very nice tho...

Didnt 00 flemming do all of the other GK's CD's ? If he did I wouldn't expect him to play the stuff on the other cd's. Dumonde - Can u Dig it ?, Mauro Picotto - Awesome ? Seems a bit suss. I hope that GK aren't telling him what to put on there.

Oh well. Slinky CD's will still be the best

Just bought it today, only listened to disk 1 but its wiked progressive, what do you come to expect from the master

I bought this today after proverbially creaming my pants listening to the previous two compilations. At the moment I've only fully listened to CD2 which I have to say is absolutely fantastic from start to finish! I've skimmed through CD1 which seems to contain much in the way of decent progressive stuff, and through CD3 which appears to be something I will enjoy listening to when I'm pissed off, or mega happy.

^^ Perhaps sadly I quite enjoyed these two tracks - they just seemed to fit well into the mix.

There is no way in hell John'00 had input on the tracks for CD 2. Looks like he had control of CD 1 though, all those tracks are his style.

I remember reading on his message board that he he came up with a deal with Godskitchen that he would mix the CDs but he didnt want his name advertised on them as he has his own sound to work on. Looks like that deal fell through.

Doesn't it say on 'journeys' that its mixed by Fleming to represent all the DJs who spin at Godskitchen? So it doesn't necessarily reflect what he personally likes but other DJs as well.

Maybe with the exception of disk 3 on Journeys and Life it is obvious that Fleming had input cos those are the sort of things he spins, if he had it all his way there would have been lots of goa style tracks as well

Dancing Dude

I bought this today, (Well i got CD' 2 & 3, firgiin HMV left CD1 case empty , I'll sort it tomoz) and hav Listened to CD2 so far, enjoyed it alot, with exception of track 9 & 10 (although I agree with MaRt, they strangely fit into the set )
Is it jus me, or is track 3 actually marco v - indicator (grinder mix) and track 4 is Prime mover - weapon (grinder mix) instead of vice versa, as advertised on my cd cover ?? Well, up to track 5 now of CD 3, kinda enjoyin it so far Desperately wanna listen to CD 1 tho

im starting to get into goa and stuff now too!
hehe all because of j00f i think, i bought 'for your ears only' a while ago and ive started downloading all these astral projection tracks hehe

Posted by Special_K on Aug-20-2002 21:25:

this is what John'00' said about the cd on his message board:

John00: "A whole team of people put this one together, you can probably hear that CD 1 was mostly my imput. I can't say who helped with CD's 2 & 3!!! You'll notice that there's no DJ's name to it this time around as it has to represent the music played in Gods Kitchen from all DJ's.?"

Nice one K

I think that the previous two albums however were pretty much all his input cos they were really good and had the sort of stuff he would play, and they weren't commercial..

It seems that Godskitchen have just slap dashed this one out to make a quick buck to me

Posted by Luke Terry on Aug-21-2002 09:43:

Cool

got all the decent tracks on it, awaiting the new GC album...

Any idea what it's gonna be called and if it's 2 or 3 disks ?

Posted by gho on Aug-21-2002 20:25:

Hands up for Jonh 00, ever since journeys couldnt stop listening to this guy, and this is also a gods kitchen compilation so, maybe we can expect the same results from the same time.
