German techno

Ok this is totally non production but I'm so stoked. Anyways, I'm a WWII nut and I just got ahold of an authentic wehrmacht uniform. For only 700 Euros too.

Sort of like this one but all authentic including the insignias and all that jazz.

Don't get me wrong, the Nazis were rubbish and I wouldn't dare buy an SS uniform or at least admit to it but I am a history nut. Also got some authentic Reich passports. The guy I got it off was under Rommel's command during their last ditch effort during the Battle of the Bulge. Man that is a piece of history in that it was his uniform he kept. He hated the Nazis but felt very proud to be a member of the army. We talked for hours and hours till he had to take a nap.

I hope they let me take it out of the country. Going by train.

You are now obligated to DJ an event in this uniform and post pics.

The link is also broken.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-20-2011 20:41:

just highlight the whole thing the copy paste. The link is not using all the characters. Naw I wouldn't wear it. Again It is a historical piece and it isn't something I would wear. I've just always been fascinated by the germans at that period. Such a clusterfuck of weirdness. I mean I would not buy a swastika and hang it in my room as I think that part of history was quite appalling but it is none the less pretty neat. Not all Germans were Nazis, not all of them were bad people. In fact I tend to try and read things from the german and soviet perspective as the traditional Allie perspective tends to simplify the matter.

The Soviet History is rather interesting too. Reading a book on the Gulags and the atrocities that took place there. Makes the holocaust look like amateur hour.

Copying and pasting the link doesn't work either since the forum shortened it.

Here.

Was joking about wearing it naturally. My father's also really big into WWII, as my Grandfather served as a US infantryman, so I completely understand. Good find btw.

this. Hell funny but specially in the U.S i think you couldn't tell us how it went.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Jan-20-2011 21:07:

did you know in germany , you can't even wear this as the swastika is illegal except for scholarly purposes which I suppose makes a bit of sense. Still, some Buddhists must be pissed off. There is a hotel in Canada somewhere that used to have a huge one on the roof until those dumb asses ruined it. You have to admit the germans had a flair for design. I mean their uniforms were fabulous.

Dunno man, if you put some facepaint on so you looked like a nazi zombie, people would go apeshit at that rave, in a good way.

probably Germany is worse in this matters than Israel or USA they seem to feel ashamed still , but shouldn't 90% of the population is not guilty of what a few did several years ago.

The uniforms are cool but generally all the big fishes in the army have nice suits, however fascists have a great sense of magnificience.

This is the train station in Milan:

I am impressed of it's size (the guy can be at 50 metres from the base), inside is even more impressive, this is from a period where all the nations needed to prove they were bigger than the others, well this is not new, all the cathedrals and churches challenge the skyline and gods, taller = better = wealthier town.

Seeing this it's not the strange that something visual as a suit is so good looking, i can bet that the material is velvet or another snoby cloth , and probably the higher ranks wore gold.

I've always been utterly fascinated by German design - even down to things like the Nazi torchlit ralleys - just way ahead of time in terms of a uniform marketing identity.

The VW Beetle was light years ahead in design terms, thier tanks and V1 / V11 rockets were technical dreamworks. The US of course got to the moon thanks to Von Braun and palls.

I'm also very interested in the whole German thing with the great outdoors, running around in tight leather shorts with erections in the black forest.

Me and my freind used to pretend we were German when visiting London.

My favorite car is the Audi R8 spyder. To me Italian cars look like junk plastic kit cars whereas you can see a German car benefits from bucket loads of r&d.

The only let for me was my visit nto Berlin nwhen I bought some appartments in East Germany. Berlin was a little gloomy and the lunch bars were like 1970's London cafes. Also we saw hardly any good strumpets in Berlin which surprised me. The best looking girls on Earth are Greek and Spannish girls - on a beach they make Northern Europeans look like a bag of wet flour.
