Review: Super8 & Tab at Guv
Surprisingly pleasant night overall. Potential sleeper party of the year.

one word: flawless!!!!!!!!!
All day I wasn't in the mood to party or do anything tonight but forced myself to come out anyways because it was their first time in TO and I refuse to waste a saturday night off work. I know something was amiss when my favourite trance track (nothing but you) comes on and I barely crack a smile. Got into a good chunk of the 2nd half of their set but was still off. Overall it was a very good set with some fluf in the first half.

It was really awesome to check out Super 8 & Tab. I really enjoyed the nite. But what's up with a location of DJ Deck. I can't even look DJs closely. It was bit higher than Ferry Corsten nite. I realized people to tend to crimb up to DJ deck to see DJs closely but that really piss off securities @ Guv. Possibly, the Guv may restrict people staying only in one zone, not spreading out.

Unbelievably great night from start till the very end, surrounded by amazing friends who had nothing but a positive energy!
As predicted, it was a superb producer set, I heard everything I wanted to hear and MOREEEE!!!

Got in just before 2, and despite me saying I'll only go if I was drunk, well, I wasn't drunk enough. I actually started to feel a little hungover so I had to put a stop or else I'd projectile vomit on people.
So was a little apprehensive going, because only way I'd enjoy trance du fromage is getting utterly shitfaced... and make gargoyle noises. Because most of the time when I go to a trance party, I'm usually sober...
I used to be a huge Super8 super fan and loved his stuff especially from 04-06 era, but I also know that if you want to be popular these day, you gotta play a lot of armada crap and anjuna cheese. I didn't follow what he was up to nowadays, but trance nowadays is like a hot chick with jekyl and hyde attitude. One day, she's like the sexiest thing in the world, then the next day, she's a demonic bitch that makes you want to slam her through a window.
But you just can't help to check it out, whenever there is a potential for a good party. To me, it's the love/hate thing with trance... And I'm definitely glad that I went to Super8 & Tab show.
For first half hour or so, it was pretty hard to bear, with some really annoying vocal tracks which I suppose please the avg trance listeners nowadays, but I'd rather dip my balls in honey and set it over an ant hill.
Then it started to get really good... For like the next hour, NO vocal tracks at all, and Super8 & Tab slamming it down 04-05 style trance. That is the shiznit (well, as good as trance I've heard recently) Then they played Helektra which is a bit of love/hate thing. When I heard the annoying doo ba doo ba of Helsinki Scorchin, I wanted to kill myself cuz I thought, here comes the cheesefest and actually prepared myself to leave. Then the Elektra part came on and it was all plur, and I'm riding an unicorn. I hate love/hate thing. It really fucks with my head.
Anyways, the rest of the set was pretty solid, with Perception remix, Nothing But You remix being stand out. And Perception has always been one of my favourite vocal trance tracks, though like most new remixes of classics, I found it quite unnecessary. Either way, the vocal stuff was tolerable, though the programming did seem to get a little boring near the end.
Super8 and Tab seemed very excited to play at the Guv. Lots of videos and whatever. I guess there is a bit of mystique to the Guv, that every DJ wants to play in the main room at least once. I noticed more enthusiasm in most DJs that play in the main room for the first time. Hopefully they recorded the set and release it on their radio show or something.
Wanted to Mark O a solid shot and see what he's got, but I was very tired from all the bouncing around and MO started to wind down the energy immediately, so left around 420 ish.
The Guv crowd is well... the Guv crowd. Rude, pushy, generally annoying but oh well. Though next person that elbows me in the throat just because they want to get through, and not even apologizing, I will smash their elbow and stuff their arm down their throat.
It wasn't ridiculously crowded though, which was nice. Overall the vibe was decent, and I actually found decent amount of space in the middle of the dancefloor. The sound was good, with no real complaints at all.
Overall very surprisingly fun night and glad I gave Super8 & Tab a chance. Haven't had this much fun at a trance party since Simon Patteron's set at ASOt 450 7.5/10
PS: Cribby may be harbouring a trance-o-saurus rex in his heart
PPS: I'm not some sort of party meter. Just because I'm dancing and bouncing around like a jack in a box, it doesn't mean the party is good.
