Have you ever noticed?

Have you ever noticed that the speed of a record by default is 33 and 1/3 RPM. if you were to put 4 beats on the record, in a cross shape, it would be perfect aligned at 133BPM.

33.3 RPM x 4, = 133 BPM

if all your records were like this, you could beatmatch without even listening.

not sure if you get what i mean or not, but i was just watching my slimatts go round and round trancing out, and i realized that the T passed the strobe light about once every four beats. so, i speeded it up a bit, and "beatmatched" the slimpatt visually, just for the heck of it.

anyway, if records had a cross in the center and were all pressed at 133BPM, you could see where the 4 beats would always be!

i guess that is a little slow though, i like to spin at around 140-145.

if you have 45 records though, the right speed would be 180BPM, so.. maybe that explains why D & B uses so many 45s?

I don't know, i'm just babbling now, just wondering if anyone else ever noticed that?

never actually aplied math to but i love those records, where you can see the beats siralling towards the center... never thought about visually beatmatching that way...

yeah, on those ones.. it must be just a little off, for the spiral to be there right? if it was exactly 133, then it would be a cross pattern. i guess?

i don't know..

nice sig, what the heck is it?

have to go check on the tempo... but first of all the bassdrum must be standing out clear and loud, no pad, synth and such.

the sig... erm... nothing special. it's a pic from where I work every saturday. The photo was taken out of the DJ's booth.

yeah.. it's kinda hard to tell what it is.. but suddenly i am very horny! *goes home to molest his girlfriend*

now this makes sense:

I checked "love commitee - access peace" and counted about 135bpm but not at 33.3 but 45rpm. I was like ...huh?

But then look at the spirals: not 4 but only three!

now that's 135bpm/45rpm = (quess what?) 3 BpR...

yay, we have a new measure for vinyl reading. BpR (Beats per Rotation)

cool thing to notice on vinyls, but is this ever gonna come up useful ?

or even better, is there a chance that we make this come up useful ??

Hmmm... Can I have whatever drugs you're on?
The worst thing is, I have noticed it, and I have thought about that exact same thing.

well, i don't do drugs anymore, that's how i was able to afford my tables.

obviously you don't need them either, if you've ever beatmatched a slip matt like i did!

anyway, they should start pressing records at 133BPM, with a cross printed on them, they'd be so easy to beatmatch.

that would let you get them up to 143BPM at max pitch on a technics i guess.
