Worm Popper Appreciate the Scene

Because I had the unfortunate experience of going bar-hopping at some places that said they were playing "House" tonight.

I can't believe what people will fall for.

What are you new?

Fuck off, sonny

I made my bones when you were in diapers.

But other than that, have a great night.

Wurm is an OG!

I understand how you feel dude, I was exposed to the "underground" sounds once @ a top 40 club and damn that shit wasn't underground to me lol

It's very shocking tbh, but no matter how shitty or gino our scene becomes over the years ... it's always better then the "underground" sounds @ the top 40 clubs.

Meaning in their perspective of underground music - examples Sandstorm, Zombie Nation and whatever tunes our scene consider as a joke._

I dunno what you're talkin bout man. David Guetta + Akon or David Guetta + TPain or well ....you get the point...that's some amazing stuff!

I don't doubt you are old..... I mean you came home rather early for a "bar-hopping" night.

I was still out at the time.

I hacked into this BBS with my brickphone.

I was kind of pissed at the bouncer at Revival who told us they were playing house. Silly me for not doing any research. We went elsewhere for the remainder of the evening.

Riva can be a better bet than Revival in that area for house but it all depends on the DJ at the end of the day. Outside of FW and Guv I dont really know of any place in Toronto where you can walk in and be guaranteed EDM, not fluff... Does anyone else?

Not always, there can be 'underground' songs that have cross-over appeal into Top-40 venues.

I haven't been to a Top-40 type place in ages - but occasionally you would hear a proper house / techno song. Usually just 1 track and everyone else would stop dancing - but my ears would perk up and get me moving, and encouraged me to explore those genres a bit more.

Although, there was a long time where I associated "House Music" with "Bad Madonna Remixes" (damn you gay-clubs) and caused me to write off the genre has complete crap for a very long time.

Also these days, if my channel-flipping past much music is an indication of anything - lots of Top 40/pop-music is borrowing heavily from house/techno these days in terms of production.

I noticed you mentioned Revival as one of your spots on the tour of the underground (up on college no less) but anyways, you missed one of the best house nights in the city in the basement of Revival the night before this post. Friday they had Brad Copeland and Coleridge doing a classic night from the System Sound Bar days.

1 day late my friend.

Serves me right for not having a plan. Just wanted a few martinis, but after a couple hours of that, we thought we'd check out something a little more uptempo.
