Fk'd up - and I mean F*CKED UP movies...
Yay or Nay?
I just saw one that is going down in the books. The more I read about this directors previous films, the more I see he is really fuked up!
I just saw 'Enter The Void' by Gaspar Noe. It is insanely long, pornographic, heavy, and they do just about any drug imaginable (DMT, LSD, Coke, E etc...)
The whole movie is told in the perspective of the brother - even after he dies. You see important moments that happened in his life with his sister. It's a very shakey cam - reminds me of Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up.
SUPER DUPER LONG. When he dies he basically floats around (takes way too long to float from one place to another) - little dialogue in the movie. Since he can't really talk after he's dead - he is just witnessing what is going on after he dies.
Noe's got other movies where 1 guy from Daft Punk made the soundtrack but all his movies are weird (like a guy fuks his autistic daughter).
BUT.. It's unique, different and I liked it. OO and if you have epilepsy - don't watch any of his movies.
Can the mods please do something about these bots.
I want to see that, Mel... where did you find it? I couldn't find it on Netflix.
First movie that popped into my head when you said "fucked up movies" was Jacob's Ladder.
It's playing at the IFC in NY. The director is gonna be there tomorrow. Would have been nice to see how crazy he really is - in person.
It drags a bit - 2 hours 40 mins!
So it's a cross between Ghost and Requiem for a Dream?
Actually it sounds awesome.
Just don't let the director try to sign your breast.

It's been playing at the Independant Film Channel's (IFC) Theater in NYC. It was also at Sundance and Toronto Film Fest - basically you are going to have to download it or buy it. If you can even do the latter.

Videodrome. I still don't have a clue what's happening in that film. I'm not sure you're supposed to. It's also got a bit where a man's weird techno-stomach-vagina eats another man's arm, which is exactly as fucked up as it sounds on paper.

i might as well start push the movie here too ....
"I Saw The Devil"
I saw it last night, and it has to be one of the bloodiest, gruesome, gutwrenching movies I've seen in awhile. Think of the movies "Se7en", "Lady Vengeance", and "Fargo", put them in a blender, and you have "I Saw the Devil"
there's a certain boundary movies have in terms of blood and violence, and this movie crossed the boundary excessively at multiple times.
oh and in before David Lynch.
i'll just name his latest movie "Inland Empire"
WOAH!
Awesome!
A Clockwork Orange.
great movie . book was better tho
Irreversible...
/end thread
Ok, maybe "Dobermann" (french flick). Also, "Oldboy" and "Ichi the killer".
Oh and Se7en was fucking disturbing as shit!

Oh and preview for this movie seems already too much. doubt I'll be seeing it anytime soon.
Few more fucked up and distrubing movies that stuck with me for some time:
Hurt Locker (though, it reminded me a bit of a Deer Hunter, the ending was a bit of a let-down)
Event Horizon
Candyman
One of most horrifying (reality based) movies: Idi i smotri ("Go and See") - russian movie about WWII, highly recommended:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091251/
Is Larry Clark in prison yet?
He's creepy.
agree with pretty much everything said in here....i still haven't seen enter the void- it's been sitting on my comp tho.
ichi the killer + oldboy ftw! and jacob's ladder gave me some serious nightmares..
and stotch, i saw you recommend i saw the devil in movie rec thread and thought it looked really good. i can't wait to see it
have never heard of gummo before - but wow chloe sevigny does a lot of fucked up movies.
guess it's time to add my own 2c (however obvious):
*Antichrist
*Mother
*Just about anything by Takashi Miike

Irreversible just makes me mad, disturbing though.
And I thought Hills have eyes was fudged up. :/
This movie looks like Requiem for a Dream taken to another level.
120 Days of Sodom.
