Techno section
Hi Swamper.
Can you arrange a Techno section?
I see a lot of people who likes techno but never get the change to talk about it.
Friendly greetings,
New Wave
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Yeah techno seems big on this site, but it is still tranceaddict, maybe it just me not liking techno, maybe someone coudl start a techno site. Just not here
maybe not a techno forum, but a "Other genre of Electronic Music" one... to talk about techno, progressive etc...

that argument would count if there were no gaming/sports/regional sections
I think its a good idea to have a separate section for other electronic music.....everyone on here listens to something other than trance as well!
OKee
main section :Other Styles
Sub-section:
Techno
Uk Hardstyle
Progressive
Hardhouse
ect...
breaks?
i would like a techno section too

"that's not hard house it's hard trance" etc...

| Originally posted by Spad Good in theory, but with the way genres are merging at the moment (which I think is a good thing) can you imagine the arguments? "that's not hard house it's hard trance" etc...I think Music Discussion is great as it is, the site's been about a lot more than just Trance for a long time. |

) don't want to have to spend time moving threads then arguing about where they should belong. Look at the way Hard House & Hard Trance are going at the moment, there's a very thin line between the two, if there were two sections then Hard Trance would belong in one forum and Hard House in another. Who decides whether a tune is hard house or hard trance? There's no label on each tune, and in reality there isn't really an answer anyway, it's all subjective and in the eyes (or ears, boom boom) of the beholder.
), but Music Discussion is for discussion of Music, not just Trance.

| Originally posted by Spad Yeah I see you point mate, but you're exagerating a bit when you say 1000 other threads, Music Discussion only has a couple of pages worth of new threads per day at the most. I personally don't want to have to sit and think whether I should be posting my thread about a particular tune in Music Discussion or Other Styles. Or should I post it in Music Discussion only if I'm talking about the Original mix, and Other Styles if I'm talking about harder mixes? And I'm sure the moderaters (I dunno, I havn't asked them ) don't want to have to spend time moving threads then arguing about where they should belong. ....name the subthread Hard-house/style/trance..no problem..
Spad has a point
but I totally agree with New Wave...
I think a "Other Genres" forum is needed

I'm just saying there's no need for a Techno forum when it can be discussed in Music Discussion. You say this will make it harder for people to find their interest but I don't see how; if you want to discuss music you go to music discussion. There's no point having to search through a number of forums looking for what you need.

not a good idea, people would suggest a trance forum, hardstyle forum, hardcore forum, hardhouse forum, progressive forum etc etc etc
it would get out of hand

I wont lose any sleep over it if Swamper takes up the idea.

| Originally posted by Blik yeah, good point, but the downside is that people stay with there music-style, they don't listen other music styles anymore so the people don't grow to other styles that they also like, because no one who likes trance is going to take a look in the techno forum etc. see my point? it isn't a real problem for me, but I can see why swamper could have a problem with it |

| Originally posted by New Wave Well IF people are motivated to look for other styles...they will look in other sections, if not, the won't visit the section.....same if you don't have seperated sections....if the are motivated to look for other styles, they look in the threads, ifnot...they won't open the thread.....so when you say people do not grow....it won't have any effect on that.... "because no one who likes trance is going to take a look in the techno forum etc." Well you see, their are MANY people who likes trance and techno to....people stay open for other styles....and trancelovers doesn't have to come in a techno section....nowadays much won't look in the threads anyway, so it stays the same.... It's just my point that people with the same taste can speak about music longer, better ans more effective......it's not a trance site anymore, it's more like a house(dance)-music site. |
I'd agree with Spad on that point, example, go into your local record store, u head for the trance section and are restricted to looking there, u miss out on so many great tunes.
HMV for example put stuff like DuMonde and Signum into the hard house section, Delerium goes into mainstream pop (sheesh) so if u only looked at the trance section u Miss out big time.
Basicly at the mo, Music discussion covers all forms of electronic music, from trance to garage (ick @ garage) but if ppl like it they can post thier thoughts on it and all can see and maybe try it out.
having the one general forum gives maximum exposure to all genres.
