Thinking of Moving to UK

Hey all you UKTA's
I am really thinking about moving to UK to join you all and i was wondering what are the best places to live? Like i dont mean most expensive just best overall. And it can't be to far from London please. Maybe you could help me?

MILTON KEYNES its like 45minute drive from london, we got a mint city centre (well not bad) Its nice and new, and not too overcrowded. I like living here.

If u want to live near the good clubs like Gatecrasher, Godskitchen etc etc, you're better off living up North, where 99.9% of UKTA's are situated.

But for London living, I live on the outskirts of London, in Twickenham, where its a nice area, cos its not too close to the hustel and bustel of a dirty city, but not too far away either.

Its a 30 minute train ride into the centre of London. Good clubs are Heaven, with its Monthly Gatecrasher nights, Peach, and Turnmills. Living costs of London are huge tho, and that may be a bit of a problem.

any more questions, just ask.

What about the North of England. What are the best places? What about large cities like Liverpool, Manchester. I reall yhave no idea. One if my relatives lives in Kent. Any good?

Posted by flystyler on Aug-06-2002 13:00:

Well i live near mikey, so that explains my area!!

But if u want a cheaper life live up north, sheffield etc, everything is cheaper up there

Fairly expensive roudn my way, due to the fact i live near london!!

Then there is down south, slinky is a good club in bornmouth!! and u have the see and fairly good weather, and beach babes, hehe

So to be hones ti woudl live down south, coz i love the beach, etc.

Nah tob e hones ti wouldnt live in this country, i should be moving else where next year, maybe spain, ibiza etc, not staying in this shitty country longer than i have to

try up the north of england like most paople are saying, they all seem to enjoy living there so it cant be that bad!

ps dont come to scotland the weathers shite

Posted by matt_a on Aug-06-2002 13:23:

I dunno ive been to UK onfe and I liked it alot more than Aus. Maybe its just more for me. Aus is great I just prefer UK. I like the people in england alot better. They were more friendly (and they say Austraians are the friendliest). I love the accents too. And there were more good looking girls. Hahahaha.

Posted by Martin McG on Aug-06-2002 13:27:

lol glad to see you got your priorities in the right order! there are lots of good looking girls! however be warned they dont swan about in the UK with bikinis on

Posted by matt_a on Aug-06-2002 13:34:

hahahahahaha

where do they all swan around in bikinis? which country? hahaha

You seen the Ali G Movie where they are coming throuhg customs in Bikinis.hahahaha
Too cold for bikinis? I was told your summer is like our winter.

Posted by dj_mdma on Aug-06-2002 14:21:

and I was told that your winter is like our summer

seriously tho, it gets expensive in suburban areas (outskirts of cities,) as they are optimum places to live. I.e not too close, not too far.

Rent in my area ranges from 1000- 15,000 per Month

1000 gets u a half decent 1 bedroom apartment in Richmond or Teddington, 15,000 gets u a 6 bedroom house with pool etc.

AS far as prices are concerened, as long as u don't go into Central London, u won't get stung.

LOL, since when, i live in aylesbury, nobody has heard of it, but its like really expensive coz we r the last town on the direct line to london. Grrrrrrrrrr so it is expensive here. You are looking at 120,000 for a 3 bedroom house, and not that big

So i would move right down south, or right up north

Maybe a better idea to go live in Holland?

The weather is almost as bad, but the advantages are numerous!

hehe, if u think thats expensive...

a 3 bedroom terrace house (what I'm living in) costs AT LEAST 225,000 for a basic house, no Conservatory, no double glazing.
120,000 would get you a flat in my area. Thats pretty scary!

Our house is valued at 250,000.

The sad thing is, these houses are counted as bottom of the range houses, i.e. some of the most affordable houses in London. But people CANT afford to buy them, so the prices keeps on going up, and so the economic cycle continues.

We all thought that was your country mate!

There are mansions in the midlands have gone for less than twice that! Huge stately homes with 20 acre gardens! Damn with 250 grand you could probably buy the whole of Newcastle

TranceyAsh, if you want a job and a good career, move south (or North, into Scotland). If you want to have a low cost of living, North East is cheapest. The midlands is probably the best, it is closer to London, much cheaper than London, and has the highest concentration of cities. In Sheffield you're only an hour away from Manchester (by car), Liverpool, Leeds, 2 hours from Birmingham (Godskitchen) and about 3 hours from London. It's also the home of Gatecrasher. I would advise Sheffield. A few UKTAs live in Chesterfield, which is very close to it too.

LOL! theres loads of smog shit up near yorkshire where me gran lives

Posted by evil_bastard on Aug-07-2002 17:48:

Areas of Yorkshire are pretty bad aye. My aunt lives near Selby and keeps getting muck all over all her windows from a nearby plant, last I saw her she said she was trying to get compensation for it.

Middlesbrough is the most industrial town in Britain, hell if you smoke in middleborough it'll probably make you significantly healthier.

Don't move just claim aslyum. Your be allowed to stay and even if you are refused you can just stay like every one else.Your get a free council house or at least a big center with every facility you could want eg you could do sports computer studies or burn the place down if you want. You can stand down slough high street perveing at all the girls or statring on somebody on thier own cos you've got twenty of your mates standing nex't to you.And you won't get nicked cos you've got every human right in the book to defend you even if you are a terriost. You even get free clothes and if you get here before the end of this summer you can enjoy a free camping trip or a trip to london to see the sights all payed for by the tax payer ( well mugs like me)
If you do decide to move it's expensive here in the south east and it's full of wiggers and rude boys. If you move up north it's cheaper but they all talk funny. oh and the weathers usally crap up there.

Posted by evil_bastard on Aug-07-2002 17:58:

The North East got an unfairly high percentage of the Kosovan refugees, the town I live in got hundreds. They got expensive kitchen appliances and all the local unemployed drunks in council houses (like my dad ) started moaning!

To be fair though, although they were given nice appliances etc, they were dumped in the town centre next to all the junkies and anyone getting a job round here let alone someone who speaks crap English is a feat in itself. You've got to remember the kind of shit these people have gone through before they reached the UK as well though, and they get more or less what your average work-shy Newcastle Brown Ale drinking geordie psychopath gets.

I still think they should put more of them in the South, except London cos lots of London towns are up to their knees in debt.
