Cell Phone tickets now 2 points...

Just read an article in the Post that if you get a ticket for talking on your cell phone while driving it's now 2 points as well as the fine.

Just a heads up to everyone.

Good, hopefully it will discourage people from doing so. Most people should have a hands free kit or bluetooth by now or at least the standard speakerphone function. It's not really necessary to have the phone to your ear anymore. If you do, then you deserve to get caught.

There's really nothing worse than driving behind some douche that's on the phone and swerving around or not going with the flow of traffic just cuz he's on the phone besides may be the women who put their make up on in the car.

nyc has some really bad driver's in general
we live in a city where everything is quick paced but yet alot of the drivers are slow, iam not saying speed but atleast keep up with traffic for godsake...traffic is one of the biggest downfalls in nyc and a portion has to do with slow/distracted drivers

i once seen a guy playing a guitar while he was driving...who does that? seriously

Posted by EliPsE on Feb-16-2011 19:45:

^^ I don't know, I feel like NYC has better drivers than Jersey. There are too many soccer moms here that hesitate and then bam. At least in the city you know people are going to cut you off and are going to pull some ridiculous shit.

I'm gonna have to disagree just based on the sheer #'s of yellow cabs alone. They are ruthless!

Wow thats nuts!

Posted by EliPsE on Feb-16-2011 19:54:

Ok, I wouldn't say better, but I just feel like I can predict better in the city. Like I said, you know everyone is going to pull some ridiculous shit including the cabs

I used to think NYC had the worst Drivers.
But when I moved out here I was proved to be very very wrong.

Posted by coolestrl on Feb-16-2011 21:44:

i fuckin hate female drivers, no offence to anyone here. But got damn women get your shit together. they have side-view/rearview mirrors for a reason. Use them.

and that douche driving his prius at 50 MPH in the HOV lane just fuckoff.

Posted by coolestrl on Feb-16-2011 21:44:

this is now a traffic rants thread!

Posted by trunks1022 on Feb-16-2011 21:50:

speed limit on city streets are 30. not 20.

Posted by edubbz on Feb-17-2011 14:15:

jersey DEF has the worst drivers, holy fuck!

i believe nyc has better drivers overall bc they are always on the go...yea cabbies can be ruthless but that doesnt necessarily mean they dont know how to drive, just simply they dont give a shit since its all about competition- picking up the person, whos waving frantically, on the corner before the other cabbie does. and flying to get them to their destination to make a few more bucks again.

throw a jersey plate in the city, that just fucks everything up. driving in jersey, you better have a couple of tylenols ready.

i read somewhere that they are in the works of making the speed limit to 20 MPH and enforce it with street cameras.

There is nothing wrong with NYC drivers, just have to be quick and aggressive. Driving in NYC makes you a better driver, because you are always aware of everthing around you. It's like playing the game paper boy, you have to be quick to watch out for the ball in the street, people on bikes, etc, lol.

Now PA, and CT drivers are the worst, because they are slow, and hit there breaks every second. In PA people need to know a yeild sign doesn't mean stop, the make a lane after the yeild, so you can ease in to the traffic. They stop right on the yield, and everyone behind them almost hits in to them. Also I think I read somewhere PA has some of the most accidents.

Also CT seems to be the only state I have ever seen that has a slow drivers lane. No diamond lane, but a lane on the right for slow drivers, wow.

(claps hands) bravo man
except for some straight up ruthless cabbies like edubz was saying
real deal nyc drivers know how to move threwout the city in the proper order and speed
when there is a accident on the other side of the highway we dont stop and look we just keep going

alot of people come from different cities and countries and just i dunno fuck up the rotation ha ha

I hate the cabbies too, but you kind of have to be even more aggressive with them.

Actually most accident I notice in nyc are people with out of state plates.

I would say the hardest obsticle in new york is avoiding pot holes. Sometimes you have to decide which pot hole is best to hit, because if you avoid one, there is another on the other side, lol.

There is a street near my old house in the bronx, that has the same pot holes from when I was born.

yea the potholes take a toll on your car...i remember seeing an article last year saying nyc has one of the highest rates of rim damage due to the lack of funding for maintaining and repairing roads

on my grandma's block they had a pothole for a few years infront of her neighbors house a few houses down for months, hell maybe even a year
they kept calling the city and nothing was done...finally the guy just repaired it himself one night lol

had the same experience. "omg it's raining! let's drive 5mph on 405!!!"

I'm convinced traffic on the 101 is entirely because drivers are distracted by a tire on the side of the road.
"What is that? A Pirelli? Dunlop? let's stop and check"

I've definately been guilty of driving slow through city streets. Only bcs the goddamn parking rules signs are so fucking small and confusing! I need to creep down a street twice just to see if I can stop there.
This applies more to the busier parts of the boroughs. I don't even bother looking for parking in Manhattan, bcs I don't even bother driving in there.

Agreed about the parking signs, sometimes they're so confusing you have be that guy that's slowing down all the traffic behind you because you're unsure if you can park there or not. The worst is when there are a bunch of signs that say no parking, yet the entire street is full of parked cars making you wonder if those signs are even relevant.

Posted by RoBDaWG on Feb-17-2011 23:38:

It's not that Jersey has bad drivers, it's that there are so many selfish pricks on the road that are inconsiderate.

Rather than letting a car merge in, everyone just shuts them out causing traffic to back up and become a mess. If everyone just yielded and was considerate to other drivers, working together to make the flow of traffic more smooth rather than squeezing in and out with the "me first" attitude, things would flow much better.

Glasses, buy em, wear them.

Posted by lounger540 on Feb-18-2011 22:45:

Clearly you have never tried reading 3 rows of parking signs at 30mph while trying to also watch the road. Glasses are superfluous as my vision is a-ok.
