thanx for the help.
buy yourself some belt drive turntables
well if you want to dj AND produce, Ableton Live might be your perfect program! it does both. whatever you do, do not buy turntables...
thanx how much does the program run for... and could a pc run it or just mac.
both platforms. for just djeing you dont need all that spec, for producing its always nice to have a good computer but there are ways around that too, by limiting the use of softsynths etc. what do you have? ableton is is on sale on their website right now btw. 349 or something, if you go for the download version.
i have pc... hp.. and thanx ill check it out.
These days, all you need is an iPhone or iTouch.

First of all you have to realize that producing and DJing are two different pairs of shoes. In my opinion you should focus on one of those first. But which one to take has to be your decision.
DJing first: Take a pair of CDJs and a mixer. Neither needs to be perfect and you don't have to absolutely master them, but this way you learn the basics best. You also better get to know what a track needs (producing wise) to be useful in a DJ set.
Producing first: Your hearing is not tainted and you can give it fresh ideas, not caring what DJs might want. Your creativity is not limited by DJ thoughts, so you have the chance to be more original. DJing afterwards might be difficult because you judge all tracks through your producers ears.
In general I made the experience: Good producers are rarely good DJs and vica versa. Because, first you are better in what you like more and second both (producing and DJing) are extremely time consuming by themself, if you intend to become really good at it. Choose well and good luck!
But it comes usually down to this: DO what you like most!
