My review of the night ....

Got to Vola Nightclub just before Mr. Morton's set, but didn't start videoing him 'till about half way through it. I always love Kris' selection and continue to be a strong fan, as he never let's up on bringing it to the people. I also managed to get some of Mark Scaife's set then disappeared to chill with JOOF and the boys. Both Arnej and I were commenting on how Mark's set was really good and we thought JOOF started his set and were diggin the music even more. It turned out Mark was still on, so the ending of his set was a perfect transition to the beginning of JOOF's.

Prior to John disappearing to go do his thing I had a chance to chill with him, Arnej plus more. John turned out to be yet another cool international DJ and I specifically mentioned to him that I've yet to run into a jackass DJ thus far. I think we chatted about almost everything, including the benefit of shaving our heads... LOL! He's good humored and seems to love a good laugh. Down to earth, which is the way I like people around me, not stuffy at all.

When his set kicked in it started off slowish. Thor (yes that was his name), a long time friend of John, was saying that JOOF really pays close attention to his set and (more or less) provides a good buildup throughout. For me JOOF's set caught my attention and held it there about a quarter of the way in. At about three quarters of the way though it was pounding hard. I really like an aggressive beat, so JOOF set was perfect. I remember listening to Psy years a go in some club, when I happened to chance upon it in another room beside the main room where my friend (DJ Lyphe) was spinning. I was hooked immediately and spent my night grooving to them Psy beats. Last night JOOF brought back that same feeling and solidified Psy in my mind. This is definitely a genre that's best enjoyed in a club environment, so you can get that pounding feeling from it's style. Being surrounded by heavy bass helps for sure !

After his set was over, ppl were getting autographs and pictures with him, which he was more than happy to oblige. He seems very good to his fans, which we discussed this very trait in one of our chats, is a good thing. Treating your fans like you want them to treat you goes a long way. It solidifies a strong bond, as opposed to a DJ than turns out good tunes, but in reality is a jackass to the ppl that love him/her.
