Mac OS

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The seperation between the two isn't as great as it used to be.

Mac is slicker, maybe a little easier to use. But it's PRICEY. If you do video or photo work, it might be the best option as the industry tends to support Macs better than PCs. It's biggest issue is its price.

Windows 7 has made PCs more than tolerable. It really is a huge step up from Windows Vista/XP/2000/ME/98/95, both in terms of speed and stability. I am shocked when anything in my Windows 7 crashes. It rarely happens. And when it does, it's usually due to my computer starting to overheat, hehe. And you can get the same spec'd PC as a Mac for a whole lot less. If you play games, PC is the way to go too.

If you just need it to surf the net, use facebook, looking at photos, etc and aren't worried about trying to look hip by having a Mac, just save your money and get a PC. If you aren't too worried about the price, get a Mac...because you can always install Windows on it, too!

Most people (who use Macs or have switched to Macs) will come and and blindly just say OS X. But it really depends on what you do with the computer whether it's worth it or not. I used to be a Mac WHORE and was forced upon PCs. It was hard because I was resistant, but after awhile you just realize the whole PC versus Mac competition with their fanbases is all bullshit and pointless.

I'd prefer to have a Mac. Because I work in video and most of the cool new video hardware devices tend to be made for Mac before PC if a PC version is made at all. But it really is just more of a "hip" thing to have for 90% of the people out there. For most of them, spending the extra money (unless they just have the money to spend and nothing else important they need) for what they do on it makes no sense.

If you're a gamer geek like myself, and like to have a lot of control over your OS, Win 7.

If you just want to turn on the computer, surf the internet, create and edit documents, and maybe do some audio and video editing: Mac.

The difference is to run Mac OS, you pretty much have to buy an Apple computer, which are expensive. If you want a Win 7 machine, you have a large number of manufacturers and specs to choose from.

I used to be a huge Mac guy since the early 90's. But than just recently I started watching how Apple is being selfish and wants everything their way and started giving a fuck less about their customer needs that I stopped caring. The playing field is pretty much leveled now and like Dave said, you can get the same functionality on a PC for a lot less! This is specially evident on the iPhone.

I with you Woody. Use to be a huge Apple fan but now I refuse to support them. I don't care how great there products claim to be. Windows does everything I need. These days a PC is just another appliance like a toaster IMO. Your needs may be different.

It looks like you already made your decision. Right now is a good time to get a MacBook Pro, because the new ones got annouced this morning. That means that all the older models have deep discounts.

I'm saving up my pennies to build a new computer as a "hackintosh." Since Mac OS and Windows now run on the same hardware, it's the most cost-efficient route.

Traktor is pretty stable on the either platform
