DJs you would like to see Release an Album of all EDITs

simply put..DJs you would like to see release an album like Sasha's Involver....

Danny Tenaglia
Markus Schulz
James Zabiela
PvD
Victor Calderone

Why not?? I mean it's a CD. Is there such thing as cheating?

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Mar-03-2011 07:42:

i'm not really that familiar with calderone...seeing him that night after sasha will be poppin my calderone cherry actually.
he plays a lot of edits?

+1 on markus...i totally dig some of his big room edits and mashups

Posted by jdub889 on Mar-03-2011 08:16:

an album of markus' big room reconstructions would be epic. not even sure why he calls some of them reconstructions and not flat out remixes ... for example, see aerofoil - caress 2 impress

A Markus Schulz album with his edits would be gold, especially from the period 03-05

I agree, I'd love to hear some Zabiela edits.

The best at this in the business is Todd Terje.

/thread.

Joris Voorn. Or does his Balance compilation count?

Posted by LoveHate on Mar-03-2011 20:26:

So good! I agree. Although that would probably take up several DVDs, not just CDs

The TJ edits are an awesome series. I like the one with the edit of All I Do, with the A side consisting of a big middle finger to Villalobos.

he could teach Soul Clap a thing or 2

Didn't PVD already do this on The Politics Of Dancing? I think Involver is really stretching the definition of "edit", because those are really remixes.

In that vein, I'd love to hear Echospace do a full disc of reshapes. Disembodied voices floating through the dub ether...

i wouldn't go as far to say destroy, as they are different tracks in the sense that the tempo and context in which they should be used are completely different. The lobos edit kind of pumps me up.

This one is funny to me because I know Terje was making a point with this one kind of in the way a blues harmonica player would get on the stage to headhunt the guy playing with the band and steal his job.

I rememeber seeing a Terje quote in which he makes fun of the Berlin fart smelling crew.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Mar-04-2011 17:56:

it is really too bad that they took down the terje edit of this from youtube.

such an awesome track.

he did an awesome job with this stevie track too, made it very dj friendly.

Posted by montana on Mar-04-2011 18:14:

terje is one of the best in the business but i like it when he gets really creative with his edits, but he does have some tendencies to go to the soul clap level of retardedness with editing something that doesn't need editing. case in point, that superstition edit.

don't get me wrong i think it's good but only the first half. you don't have to do anything with superstition, it's brilliant as it is. and if you are a dj and can't work something a funk tune like that that opens with raw drums, then you shouldn't be a dj. however, him doing a dubout of superstition with drums and a heavier bassline, awesome.

know what i mean?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-04-2011 18:21:

Agree with Tony. I've heard the Superstition edit before and it's a waste of time. The original still rocks it on any dancefloor worth a damn, and since he doesn't even give it a percussive outro it's no easier to mix out of than the original. This is another shitty "/thread" from Jay.

i wouldn't compare it to soul clap at all... and i like having some drums that are tightened up for mixing purposes. I'll still try and mix music with live drumming, but if i can avoid it i will

Soul clap is the epitome of lazy. Terje did a lot of subtle efx work and added a few slight elements as well as beefed up some of the lower frequencies. Soul clap just takes the high hats from something they didn't create, and lays it over something they didn't create or modify at all. The only thing they create is the name of the track to rip off the original artist.

ignores systems comment because he is a prog ginger.

THREAD CLOSED!
