I just got my first Tiesto experience... {The Joint - Las Vegas}

And ZOMG...I am just blown away.
What an incredible performance {Can you say Traffic?}

i could stand 15 minutes of his set on Energy, then went to see Corsten who played a slightly less disappointing set

Someone at my work also saw him @ Energy. He actually enjoyed Tiesto's set a lot although he wasn't expecting he would. Maybe you left too early. SvD was a bit disappointing to him.

Yeahhh did you just see Tiesto on Saturday night?

Tiesto is good live... I mean, his new house shit is OK to listen to since it is probably some underground and different shit.... but none of those songs are worth taking home as a gem.

however, the classics trance tracks he plays are always a gem

in every set Tiesto will play at LEAST one trance gem.

I dont give a fuck about what the elitists gonna say but his classics are the shit live

I got a question though.... were the lights at Tiesto hella crazy or what?

I'mma go see him in July

I'll take this home as a gem.

The concept of Energy is that if you don't like something you have a great dj playing in the other room, if there weren't other rooms then i'd have checked him, i came back after one hour and he was playing slightly different music, played a collaboration with Marcel Woods (Don't ditch) which was nice but had that electro pitched sounds i don't like, the same as Zero 76, that supersaws sound fine but then you've 2 minutes of random electro shit.

I've listened to the set broadcasted and wasn't of my taste either. Ferry went too commercial too, i expected that in a festival like this full of trance crackers he would play a mature set, almost no classics apart from some very predictable tracks and instead of playing some of the good stuff he has produced in the last years like Radio Crash or Twice in a blue moon he played the vocal garbage, made of love and beautiful...

SvD was one of the best that night in my opinion, some house some electro, some trance, dubstep, techno... some vocals, some instrumentals... however i see he is the next taking the commercial route.

To me the surprise of the night was Avicii i expected something cheesy and it was but i enjoyed the set a lot

Yep...This past Saturday, and im still recovering
Lights WERE off the hook, it is very very visual and at times damn near overwhelming.

In years passed, Tiesto has played Vegas numerous times, but, being in the hospitality industry he always played on nights were I would not have been able to take time off work. As well, the days like memorial or labor days, those tickets were around 150.00$. The tickets Saturday were about half that.
So, yes...I was super psyched to finally get a chance after all this time to see him.
As for the poster who replied about classics. The opening set seemed to be alot of his newer arrangements, but...by the mid to end of his sets he was playing all of his old stuff. Surprised as hell to hear at least 4 cuts from Nyana. And to boot a KILLER extended remix of Traffic.

All in all, ??I couldnt have been more pleased,even though ,yes..this was my first time seeing him. I am sure those who have seen him more than once "could" get picky or selective. I, myself was just happy being there

Well, think I should have a listen and see whether I like it or not. Tracks played in a set don't need to be tracks I would play at home, so maybe I'll be surprised.

I actually like his electro house sound lately. He's definitely playing better tunes than a year or two ago. His new sound is like swedish house mafia on steroids.

definitely, half of the tracklist is worthy the other is just plain headache, and i don't know what happens with Pendulum - The Island, i heard the track 4 times, at least tiesto played his own remix which is better than the Steve Angello & Max Vangelis garbage.

Ps: You are paying 150$ in Las Vegas to see tiesto? O.o whats the average salary there... in most countries you can see him in a club for ~20-30$

I'm pretty sure Tiesto played his Silence ISOs mix. The man stated himself that song is "special" to him, and I've checked every recent tracklist of his since 2009 and the times when he said "no more Trance" yet he still plays Silence in every set. I've experienced it, and I'm pretty sure he played it for you guys too. Did he play it though?

@Rodri Santos
The guy didn't pay $150. He said during other unfortunate timings of Tiesto events, it was inconvenient for his schedule and that it was around $150 to get in as well. I don't think he went for $150. Not even I would go for it.

Question to scorpradio... on regards to the epic lights Tiesto has, did they go all strobey and flashey during epic moments of his set?

I can't believe this man. CONGRADS.

i bet this is more exciting then the time Michael Jackson came over your house to use the bathroom

Posted by Rodri Santos on Mar-08-2011 13:19:

he plays always the same classics Silence,Lethal Industry, Traffic, Suburban train and Adagio 4 strings at the end,and yes i know he didn't pay 150 to see tiesto but does someone pay that to see him at say.. tuesday?

Posted by SystematicX1 on Mar-08-2011 19:23:

Tiesto tickets here in Vegas go up around major holidays that he performs. Memorial Day, Labor Day, New Years etc. His residency is 79.00$ for floor and upper balconies are 69.00 [ a complete rip ]

As for the lights, yea..tons of strobes but he also used alot of pulse flashes to ,especially when there were percussion flams.
He utilized alot of other visuals like streamers,smoke jets,girls on swings and a very cool ambient lighting scheme.

I would post some photos but the camera on my phone sucks =O( so, they didnt come out all that well

Posted by SystematicX1 on Mar-08-2011 20:50:

It's called the price of living in Vegas, it is what it is. You deal with it if you want to be entertained. I was, move on!
