I hardly let myself consciously and intentionally go, "Well, this song could use some of these chords!" I wouldn't just throw in those chords they mentioned for the sake of doing so. Always be free in your composition.

Yeah... the production interviews are excellent. The whole website seems to have its act together pretty well.
