Haircuts
Anyone else fucking hate having their hair cut?
I've just had mine done, and as usual I feel scalped. I always get this thing where I absolutely hate my new hair for about three days, and then on the fourth day it suddenly starts looking okay and by a week I'm usually happy with it. I always took this to be a personal neurosis, but I broached the subject to a friend the other day, and unprompted he declared that he always thinks a haircut is the worst thing ever for about four days, and then it's fine. I seem to get the effect more strongly when I've had more hair cut off. If I'm ever happy with how my hair looks on the day, I know I've not had enough cut off and it'll soon be too long again.
So how widespread is this four day hair-acceptance process? Is it purely an issue of self-perception, or is it something to do with how your hair lies after it's just been cut?
Also, I've accounted for the inevitable Stu-is-bald and "you're a fag" jokes, so save your keyboard some wear and tear.
Your a fag chchchhchchchehcehehce
You're a fag.
Also, I never have that problem. How long is your hair exactly? I know when a barber uses electric clippers to cut your hair, it can look kind of...off for a few days after, but if he/she is using scissors to cut it, there shouldn't be any kind of window where you don't like it.
I think it's either that it's just your own self-perception, and it doesn't actually look weird. If that's not the case, you should find a new place to get your hair cut because your hair shouldn't look weird after being cut.
My girlfriend wants me to get mine cut and it's been about four to five months since I had it cut short for a job interview. I personally just like it long with a well-kempt, bearded hippy look I've cultivated in the past five years. I don't really feel like changing it up.

I think getting your hair cut really short is akin to clipping your nails really short. For the first few days, your fingertips are kind of tender and uncomfortable, but once things grow in, it's great for a while. And then you have to do it all over again.

Yeah or like when you Nair your balls and leave it on just a tiny bit too long and it starts to burn. Then it burns for a few days, but after that it's smooth sailing!
since i work with people all day long i need to look best. i get a hair cut every 2 weeks
The key is to have a favorite hair stylist so you can be assured to have a great cut every time.
I've had this experience for a long time and through a variety of hairstyles. A dozen different barbers have cut my hair for various prices and to various lengths and the sensation is almost always the same.
Sometimes I have just had outright bad haircuts, where they ignored my requests, took off lots more length than I wanted, bulldozed through the lines of the existing cut and left me with a completely different result to what I wanted. When that happens I tend to deliberately wear a daft hat for a day or two to conceal the damage. Today may become one of thos days.

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J Yeah I have one or two guys at my barber shop who regularly cut it. They know what I like and tend to spend a lot of time and attention on it, asking me how I want particular bits. Still, even with those guys there are the few days of hatred for how it looks. |

oops double post
Yeah I've always gotten better haircuts from gay dudes as opposed to straight guys/girls. They seem to pay more attention to making you look good.

J, I'm guessing you typically go to barber shops, not salons right? You might want to try washing your hair immediately before going to get your haircut. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but the place I go to always washes your hair before they cut it, and I've never had a bad haircut there.
I had mine cut on Wednesday for the first time in over 4 months. It was a right mess before, absolutely unstyleable but it's been hat weather for so long that I haven't cared. Now it's back to very short, smart and I'm way happier with it. I've had some bad cuts in my time though, I don't think anyone hasn't, I know which barbers to avoid/goto.
I hate getting my haircut...i'm always happy with the cut, that's not the issue, as i've been going to the same lady for years now...but I like having my hair long. unfortunately, it grows way too thick, so now it's a little bushy. and i need a fuckin haircut. but i don't want

I hate the actual part of getting my hair cut... not because I have some odd phobia, just hate spending time on it.
I bought a pair of $20 clippers, shave my head every few days, have never looked back and my hair style never changes.
Everyone should just shave their heads, men and women!
