Confused How do I make a bass synth like this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQavmrTfkjI

It starts from the beginning. No idea how to make a bass like this. Have seen it in a lot of trance/techno tracks. Can someone help me out.

A sawtooth wave, and sidechain it. That's it right?

I don't get it.

add a little noise to it and some overdrive. A little glide , some compression and thats about it.Also mix a bit of Square wave. You can also modulate the signals with a very fast lfo using a random modulator but lower the actual gain so you can barely hear it. Also applying some FM but using noise again as one of the modulators.

The notes are just K-:- K-:-

- is lower octave
: is high
and K is kick

I suppose you could have it one the K too but just make the velocity lower.

Similar sound I used in a track. NOt as gritty as I think at the time I was out of cpu. Its old.Basically just how I described. I think this was a virus synth.

Anyone remember this one ?

First track I can remember that did that sort of sound. Pretty sure it is a waldorf pulse.

although I don't really like Klass, he does manage a nice bass sound. HE does layer it tho unlike the oldschool guys like cosmic gate and deruyterhttp://www.divshare.com/download/14290421-678

Is there a specific name for this kind of bass/synth?

not really. Just open filter. takes alot of space and really kills room for anything else.

Not really, some EQ and multiband compression can really free up space

you can't just create space. if something takes space, there is less. The bigger your sounds , the less space. mixing 101 remedial. Actually that track of mine has 0 side chain compression. Just really good arranging.
