Some help
I know this isn't the right place but everyone gets a mulligan and I don't want to have to deal with all those pill popping flailers in the main music section.
Anyways , I was at a lounge the other week and this dj was playing the sickest oldschool hiphop except the production was quite modern which made it really cool. Really funky but with extremely modern production aesthetics. I've been listening to so much internet radio and I can't seem to find anything like this. IT was really cool. The sort of hip hop beats that have real sounding drums with a nice bassline and the production which lets face it for hiphop these days which is in the toilet, was really good. I wanted to ask him but I felt like such a snowflake asking this big black guy. But ya.
Any help would be really welcome.

love it
although the stuff was a little more black with rapping but not that lame club shit. Like really groovy. Thanks man.
Sorry was this exact same question not asked a while back?
I'm nearly 100% sure! This is bizarre!
no you are right! I saw him again and half the time I was ignoring my girlfriend just getting down to the music. IT was really cool. I mean I think most everything sucks but this was like oldschool hip hop, you know before they started doing that lame soca quantized rnb bullshit but there were electro elements but not like 10 years dated. Really cutting edge. Some of it was dub versions.
I don't even know what to call it. I searched on some stations for alternative rap but everything I get is that shitty american timbaland bullshit.
It was the same dj too. I think this week, i'm gonna go ask him. I haven't been excited by music for a while. ACtually, I will just bring Shazam. SO many great djs in lounges or places you wouldn't expect. I mean I go to that lounge mostly because the music. No dancing, just a martini type bar but the music is so damn good.
Just go ask him mate.. He'll appreciate your support of his song selection.
Plus you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I just don't want to be that guy. hey bro, I used to dj too! i'm sorry if i'm weirding you out but I find black guys very pretty when i'm rolling. Light stick show ?
There's a couple of college stations in Atlanta, one of which (I can't remember) had this awesome DJ show every Friday (I think) consisting of non top 40, very well produced hip-hop.
is it american ? I kept thinking that cool stuff is made in france as the house guys produce the rap there but I've been listening to french radio shows with no luck. It wasn't just one or two songs ,it was a style of music that was really cool. Next thursday, i'm gonna shazam him.
