March Madness: NCAA Basketball Tournament

Well, shit hit the fan for my squad, the Louisville Cardinals. Got embarrassed in front of the whole country by losing to Morehead State. I had them going all the way (I'm a die-hard fan, why wouldn't I? ) And what's worse, my arch nemesis UK defeated Princeton on a last second shot.

Interesting basketball so far, nonetheless. Who do you guys have winning? Any cinderellas?

lol that's such an amazing upset! i can imagine that like 98% of brackets no longer have a chance of being perfect haha.

Hey, don't hate on a fellow big east team. Unless you want to moan about how we ruined your chances for a big east title this year. And Kyle Kuric winning dunk of the year after posterizing one of your players.

Granted, I can't talk shit, we lost in the title game as well by choking on some free throws. But you can't talk shit either unless ND puts up or shuts up.

Fair enough I really think they have their best chance this year though. 5 starting seniors and one of the best shooters in the country.

I don't understand the "fellow big east team" thing though. I think that's more of a reason to hate them than to not hate them.

Why? Wouldn't you rather see a Big East team win the title or get to the Final Four than fucking Duke or North Carolina? I want the conference to succeed and keep getting star athletes rather than let them all go to lame ass schools like that.

UNC, yes. Duke, no. I like that Duke can still be successful even though they still have some academic standards for admission and don't just recruit a bunch of one-and-doners that schools like Kentucky and Kansas always get. And by that I of course mean they recruit white kids

Also if ND doesn't make it that far, obviously I wouldn't want any other Big East teams to make it farther because that could potentially take recruits away from ND, which is a big deal this year because all of their starters are seniors.

You have a point, but consider the fact that those recruits could also choose a non-Big East school as well. I wouldn't think it would make any difference that another Big East team makes it further than ND in the tourney. Wouldn't it look better for your school if Pitt or UConn makes it really far, considering you beat both of them during the regular season?

I guess, but I'd rather go to the school that makes it farther. If you were a recruit would you rather go to the school that went to the final four, or the one who beat the final four team during the regular season, but lost early on in the tournament?

That's all up to recruits, judging a team by how they play in the regular season, who they would play with, and who would be their coach. Honestly, I think the NCAA tournament has very little to do with where recruits go. Even if UK doesn't make it very far, they will still recruit one-and-dones just because they will be black kids with a lot of talent that don't have to go to class/graduate/train hard.

One-and-done is Calipari's specialty too. He turned Memphis into a beast by recruiting people who never even took the SATs themselves.

Nothing has changed for me since the beginning of the tourney. Duke is winning it all.

I had Morehead beating Louisville. My bracket has gone to shit though. I had Notre Dam winning it all.
