Neon Lights For Your PC????

i need some advice, im thinking of putting neon lights and a window in my computer...i went to the store today and dammm! they want $300 for a window in ur computer!! soo...what would u do???

Posted by sothis on Aug-08-2002 23:57:

my metal lian li case with 4 built in fans and a window was about $180... shrug.

if you really want a window, just buy a new case with one in it (like lian li, a damn good brand, especially if you upgrade a lot)

Dude, do it by urself...
http://www.dreddnews.com/reviews/mods/windowmod/

if you want more toturials search @ google window kit mod or smth like that...

And $300 for a window mod is a way too much... there is nothing to cost so much...

i wish i never looked in this thread! im going to end up hacking a huge great hole in the side of my pc case now! and prolly mnot being able to fix it!

*little_dave puts down the powers tools and quickly walks away

right now a lot of cases come out with cut outs and windows...just got to get them neon lights...but here in ny....dude said 90$ for cutting it out and putting it in plus the cost of the neon lights.

it was nice when i first saw it but it getting played out soooooo fast....i think its a waste of money....you wont be looking in cpu all the time....so who is going to see it?

Posted by PatMcGroin on Aug-09-2002 04:18:

as long as my case is easy to work inside for upgrades and shit, whats the point??? my case sits next to my desk, i don't look at it much, and hell its the insides that count 400GB soon

see i'd rather spend my money on shit i'd actually use

my friend put lights an stuff in his computer, 2 days later he has a hole in his motherboard

Posted by amit on Aug-09-2002 06:40:

wow....i am def getting this!!!!

how to forget to name the well professional work done by:
http://www.frozencpu.com

But PatMcGroin is right.. instead of modding your case to get a windows and neons, upgrade some usefull thing such as harddrives and fans... a case with 1 front fan and 1 rear fan is as l33t as a case with windows and neon, and it's usefull.

And take a look on http://www.virtual-hideout.net/ Previews, reviews and feedback about modding, overcloaking, etc.

did use cold cathode light on this computer or acual neon lights?

Posted by Fraggle on Aug-09-2002 19:45:

heh...should be able to find em a lot cheaper than that!

picked up a full-tower black chieftec case with pre-installed window for AU$180...like US$90 i think

...no psu, case only but it's friggin nice one

6 rail 5 1/4 drive bays
2x 4 removable hd bays
3 front & 2 back 80mm removable fans + 1 back 92mm fan
quick release (+lockable) side panels, one with sexay window
and neat little swivel feet useful for carpet

...only problem is no removable mobo board...but i don't change it that often anyway

definitely shop around tho...$300 for a case, damn better be good alright!

you need to be careful, lights can put out alot of RF interference, and cause electronics to not function properly, or at all. I had a friend who did that and had his hard drive start going crazy and writing a bunch of random shit.

IDE/SCSI cabels actually transmit over RF... so be careful or you might end up messing something up. Make sure you dont get just any old light, but something specifically designed for it, they do sell RF sheilded lights.

I cant imagine any more of a waste of money..plus having neon lights in yer rig makes it look really really rediculous.

dude modded his case and his monitor
also put a furby in the comp, replaced the eyes with the power and hd lights, but took out the speaker cuz it got too annoying.
