R.I.P. Loletta Holloway

Great voice, nuff said really....

I know she didn't have too much to do with this beyond being sampled, but I still fucking love it without shame. Little known fact, but this is the biggest selling dance single ever in the UK:

yeah, r.i.p. to a proper talent.

jack, she was indeed sampled and without permission, i know she or salsoul sued black box for the use of 'love sensation'. if i'm not mistaken after the lawsuit they redid the vocals with heather small on vocals instead.

black women are the greatest vocalists ever.

R.I.P.

Ishkur and I got drunk and spent the night making this tribute vid. Her voice will live on in samplers for generations!

Never heard that before. Must have sounded shite. I know they eventually came to an agreement with Salsoul, but I think Holloway herself didn't actually get any of the money because she still owed them money herself.

Great joke.

The best one still is: name a single artist who has gotten paid on a royalty statement from Salsoul in the last 20 years without spending as much as they earned in attorney fees in order to get it from them... ROFLMAO!

Loleatta was probably well recouped by the late 80's. Then the sampling lawsuits with their six-figure settlements came in.

She only got little dribs and drabs, hush money from Salsoul when things were going to be talked about in the press, that sort of embarrassment to them and the stupendous fortune they made with operations like Good Times Video and other ventures.

So sad but that's the record business for you.

It's not that bad. You can actually find a full track on YT.
