Tracks from Krazy Electrons

cool vernon, !

check these guys out

Article on krazy Electrons
The Electronic music scene is buzzing these days and its not just west that is lending these eclectic tunes. India too has got some great Electronic artists and bands to call its own. One such group, making the clubbers groove, is Mumbai based Krazy Electrons. Within a year of its inception, Krazy Electrons is already topping the charts on global sites like Reverbnation and has a huge fan following on various social networking sites.

While studying engineering in Delhi, I used to listen to Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Paul Van Dyk and was always intrigued by the electronic sounds and fx. I started learning the nuances of this genre and played as DJ at Club Elevate in Delhi. But the idea of producing music live was something that drifted me towards laptop based music. I always dreamt of forming an electronic band, says Chatty (Chaitanya), a laptop musician.

This dream was realised once met Vishesh, a musician with an electronic album KSHA to his credit. After a couple of jam sessions we knew that this concept will work and we had our guitar god Kshitiz to make the band complete. He had been playing with his rock band Amen which was a tribute band to Megadeath, Chatty elaborates, but then we thought being an Indian band whats that one different thing that we could offer to our global listeners? Thats when highly trained and experienced classical vocalists Dravita and Manjot stepped in and added the much needed Indian element in Krazy Electons music.

What is the ex-member of the rock band Pralay doing here? Ask Vishesh and pat comes the reply, Music is not about sticking to one genre, you should always keep exploring and learning new things. Although I joined Pralay as a drummer, synthesised sounds always kept me interested and I slowly progressed towards playing keyboard. With Krazy Electrons we are bringing a lot of elements together. We have Dravita and Manjot blending in their knowledge of classical, folk and sufi music and metalhead Kshitiz adding his dark leads, funky riffs and backing rhythms.

Incidentally, Vishesh is among the first few musicians in India to introduce computers in live shows. He recollects trying to create his own sounds on a synthesiser way back, in 6th grade... A musician sold off a single oscillator synth he had at a dirt cheap price as he was used to the preset based Casio keyboards. My father got me the synth thinking of it as a toy but for me it turned out to be my first step towards electronic music production.

The amalgamation of electronic dance music and Indian classical makes Krazy Electrons music refreshing. We bring in a lot of Sanskrit chants, alaaps and sargams. But we are not restricting ourselves to a specific language or form. There will be regional languages also, says Dravita. Sensing a widening gap between music genres Manjot hopes that their music bridges it.

Apart from their music the band also likes Daft Punk, Paul Van Dyk, Infected Mushrooms, and Prodigy and Indian band Jalebee Cartel.

The band is currently gearing up for live gigs, You will see a lot of us this year. There are plans for an album also... were working towards it, signs off Chatty with a smile.

Krazy Electrons band members:

Vishesh: Laptop
Chatty: Laptop
Kshitiz: Guitar
Manjot: Vocals
Dravita: Vocals

Favorite chillout producer has to be Mixmaster Morris (The Irresistible Force). Morris Gould is a fcuking genius when it comes to this shit. He did lots of stuff for Rising High Records & Harthouse and really helped push ambient/chillout forward and to the limits. I like many of his releases but this track for track I like. Irresistible Force, The - It's Tomorrow Already

My favorite song by him under his 'The Irresistible Force' alias.

If you have mastered the virtue that is patience listen to these:
this is Peter Kuhlmann & Morris Gould

Check out the original as well(almost identical but some nuances)

Classic Chillout Tunes

If you like this ambient/chillout era like I do, check out more artists on Harthouse and Rising High.I remember a lot of people hating this type of music in the early 90's, saying it was a pussy trance alternative Other artists I can think of now are CyberTrax, New London School of Electronics, Sven Vath, Sequential, and be sure to check out Cosmic Baby for quality stuff. That guy is another genius. But I'm sure you that already Vernon. Visions of Shiva holla

I know this is trance but you have to admire the ambient intro build. People like to use the word 'epic' for anything nowadays but this song is the real deal.

I've been practically studying Harthouse and Rising High lately, amongst others, but Irresistable Force never caught my eye much. I only have Space Is The Place. I will have to dig into it hard. I like that sound.

Cosmic Baby! Him and Lieb are the shit. Legends.

Now let's have some more of these:

Be-Zet's epic work. Another one.. This one is one of my all time favorites. The Archaic Modulation album is one of my most precious albums. Evar.

Three million views. Nuff said.

Really great version of one of my favorite tracks on one of my favorite labels

Now for some Eye Q desires..

I will be digging further into some of those you mentioned tomorrow, it is 4am here and I could really use some sleep.. Cheers man!
