More Drum 'n Bass like this?

I've been a long time fan of certain kind of drum 'n bass even though I really haven't been able to find it much at all. IMO it's pretty standard drum 'n bass, but pretty much every time i go searching for more I find stuff that's not really what I'm interested in.

Maybe the best example would be this album.
The entire album is just brilliant IMO.
Only full track from the album I could find on YouTube was this.

Other examples:
Danny Howells & Dick Trevor feat. Erire Breathe (Pacific's Drum & Bass Dub Mix)
dBridge & Vegas - True Romance
Deadmau5 - Strobe (DJ Marky & S.P.Y. Remix), apart from the trancy bits
Exhibit A - G Minor (Pacific Drum 'n Bass Dub)

Basically stuff that's hard and pounding and sort of industrial sounding maybe (I think these sound a bit industrial kinda). Nothing soft and fluffy or too laid-back and funky. Something that'll pound all bad feelings the fuck out of your mind. That's how this kinda of music makes me feel even if the music isn't even remotely positive or happy, but it makes me feel a lot better.

Recommendations old or new are welcomed as these tracks are pretty much all I have in this type of drum 'n bass. Vinyl, CD, download, all goes too.

Just wait for PvD's new album "Evolution". I think it comes out next month or sometime soon.

That's the title of his new album? Dam these trance jocks are even cheesy with their album titles. I bet there will be a nice close up picture of him looking serious for album art. Wooo!

going on 'tough sounding' and only knowing the marky/spy tune from there, I'm gonna put a few links up and let you decide if any of it fits what you're after, and can then probably elaborate.

Spor - Kingdom

Break - Too Much

Marcus Intalex & SPY - Paulista Dub

Spor - Kingdom

Marcus Intalex & SPY - Paulista Dub

Spor tune was alright. Not something I'd buy, but it was pretty close to the kind of stuff I like.
Break tune was alright too, but I wouldn't buy that either. The vocals kinda put me off, but I guess this was pretty close to the style I'm interested in too. Beat in this is kinda boring really. It's not very exciting.
Marcus Intalex & SPY tune wasn't hard enough but more of the kind of stuff I always seem to find when I'm looking for d'n'b. This kinda stuff doesn't interest me.

Also If you didn't notice, there's a link (YouTube or Junodownload) to each of the tunes I mentioned if you want a clearer picture of what I'm after.

That's just noise IMO. Certainly not what I'm after.

I own the deadmau5 remix, and was thinking off the top of my head styles which are 'tough' like that is, when you mentioned without the 'trance' and was about to go live on the ukta radio so didn't have time to listen to your links before my set Break makes really tough beats, but it's hit & miss as to if you like what's with it for sure. Spor are good, check out Aztec for one of their big tracks, kinda like Noisia, but I'm not always a fan of Noisia. I'll have a listen to yours & see if I can find something that correlates with it, but it'll prob be tomorrow now with the radio on til late.

Alright, cool. Just thought you might have missed them.

I gotta check more of Spor and Break and also Aztec and Noisia. Thanks for the recommendations.

You asked for hard and pounding industrial like stuff.

I think what you meant to ask for was the most generic drum n bass possible.

Maybe you'll like this? It's a few years old and has some nice melodies.

Yes, I'm sorry that I can't accurately describe what kind of d'n'b I want using words, especially as I don't know much at all about the whole genre. That's why I posted the links to YouTube and Junodownload.

I will specify though: I do not want any female vocals. I do not want cheesy shit like Pendulum. I do not want stuff with stupid happy melodies like the above link you posted. I do not want stuff that goes too "hard" (noisy) like the first link you posted. If it's starts to resemble some sort of hardcore, I will most likely not like it. The type of stuff I posted the samples on has the kind of sound I really like.

I do not know if the d'n'b I like is "the most generic drum n bass possible". I've heard that many times before but no one has been able to point out where I could find more of this generic d'n'b. Instead every before recommendation has been shit like Pendulum or the kind of stuff in your second link or some of that more laid-back d'n'b of which I cannot remember any examples at the moment.

What about your liquid mix?

Pretty much full of the shit he's after.

I mean that with no disrespect either, I liked your mixes.

Also the stuff you posted is a very dated sound, you're asking for stuff that equates to a dnb head asking for stuff that sounds like binary finary or airwave.

Check out any dnb mix from about 2000-2004.

Finally as a last ditched attempt and a sort of apology for coming off like an ass, what about this?

or maybe this

It'd help if the tracks you posted had anything in common apart from generic "filthy" bass, and you always seem to have some intangible something you can't explain that makes you hate one track and love another. So here goes nothing...

Next time I'm really angry I'll have to make a set of this stuff.

Posted by Lunar Phase 7 on Mar-29-2011 05:39:

Have you tried this one?

I don't think that's what he wants, the deadmau5 remix is a mixture of liquidy melody and harder squelchy sounds, it's kinda like 2 tracks in one, and when he said he didn't like the melody, it put me right off that

I think Phace is maybe perhaps something that might interest you

I looked into that and this might be what I'm after. I listened to Ed Rush and Optical's "Funktion" on YouTube and it's the best tune I've found with the aid of this thread so far. I definitely gotta look into neurofunk more. Thanks for the recommendation.

That's really no surprise as I've been after this kind of stuff since 2002 when I bought that Koe album. It was probably my first proper encounter with d'n'b and I absolutely loved it but to this date have found only a few tunes with a similar vibe. For some reason d'n'b has been the toughest genre for me to find the kind of stuff I like. With trance it was easy, with prog house pretty easy, with techno sorta easy but with d'n'b it's always been super difficult for some reason.

The first tune was pretty close to what I'm after but wasn't a tune I'd buy, but similar kind of tunes might be what I'm after. Second tune didn't sound interesting at all.

Posted by ziptnf on Mar-29-2011 14:25:

This one has a bit of a psy approach but I think it's pretty jamming. Is this anywhere close?

Videos of
Paperclip - Mechadroid
Cloudseeker, Giocator
Neutral Point - Ideologiya
Survival - Beginning

Next time I'm really angry I'll have to make a set of this stuff.

First tune was ok. Kinda emphasizes on the beats and beats only and seemed to be lacking in other stuff.

Second tune has this problem too. It's just the beats and some buzzing, which do sound fine, but it's boring in the end as it's lacking something.

Third tune sounded more annoying than anything and thus wasn't what I'm looking for.

Fourth tune was ok. Nothing special. Annoying increases in volume every now and then. Dunno if that's been done by some idiot who uploaded the vid, but it sure did distract listening to it. Still, not something I'd buy.

1st, 2nd and 4th tunes were pretty close to what I'm looking for, but still not close enough, sadly.

Maybe the tunes I listed only have the "filthy" bass in common, I don't know. But filthy bass sounds like something I like. Maybe I should be asking for d'n'b tunes with filthy bass then.

And i do admit that I usually have that "intangible something I can't explain that makes me hate one track and love another". This is most likely due to my poor knowledge of music theory and the fact that I'm not really musical at all. Music is something mystical to me. Something that to me has little to do with reason and logic unlike pretty much all other things in life.

This is a cheesy "pop dnb" tune. Apart from the vocals I do kinda like it, but it's not really what I'm looking for here. A nice dub remix of it might be nice, but I haven't found one yet at least.

This one sounded pretty good. Hard to judge from a 2 min clip, but I don't think I'd buy this one either.

It's close, but still not quite there.

Searched for more neurofunk and found Corrupt Souls. I've listened to two tunes so far and I'm liking what I hear.

Listening to this now and it's

Edit: LOL, that's not Corrupt Souls, but a tune called Corrupt Souls by Impulse & Submerged. Oh well, I like it. Gotta go look for more stuff by Impulse & Submerged then I guess.

Edit 2: Ha. Impulse is half of Corrupt Souls. Listening to Submerged's Violence as First Nature on Spotify now and it doesn't sound very good. Maybe I'll look into Impulse & Corrupt Souls more then.
