KORG ??? [New Analog Synth]

Thanks to pat_insilico from ITM for this and photoshopping the photo so it's easier to see most of the writing under the knobs.

ANALOG!

Posted by cryophonik on Apr-03-2011 08:33:

This is the problem with having Musikmesse so close to April 1, but I think it's real. Monotribe? If that's what it is, I bet it will sell like hotcakes.

I was just reading your reply in the Clavia thread, replying with a complaint about lack of real analog, then the very next thread I opened was this one on ITM talking about a new analog KORG synth. Oh snap, I am excited.

No MIDI in/out? In a drum machine/sequencer? Smooth move, Korg.

I was reading that you can mod this synth with stuff and it has a ms-20 filter so that should me fun.

I don't think this is aimed at the Volta crowd - like every non-workstation keyboard made by Korg and Roland these days, it's just another toy to add to the pile. I'm sure many people will get some good use out of it, but my guess is that the bulk of its market will be newbies who will buy it because it's a cheap way to own something that says "analog" on it, which will make them feel more "pro".

How sad.

Same here. I can't fucking believe they missed that. I'm just hoping this a protoype and midi will be on the production models.

If so, for 199eur, I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

The only other thought is that with the Electribes, they had a habit of bringing out MK2's when the original unit fell short, so it might be the case with this one.

Serious fail if not though.

it looks like something i build myself.

That's how analogue it is.

Sounds like they've been taking inspiration from Propellerheads.

And, here is the video showing off the Monotripe in all its glory:

The audio on the unit is practically non-existent....probably on purpose.

Yeah, right. Take away the analog and it's little more than a Fisher-Price toy. Have you even looked at the specs on this plastic piece of shit? It's a joke. But, it's hardware, so it must be good, right?
