Talking So I'm going to Amsterdam for the weekend...

...what does the c0r recommend I go see?

When I was in Holland, I went to see a few windmills and a tour through a factory that made both cheese and clogs. You should definitely go do that, and stay away from those kids and their marijauana/thump-thump music.

Heineken Museum, Van Gogh Museum.
Red Light District if you ever want.
Cafes are overrated and over priced. Montreal has better stuff at a cheaper rate.
Don't ever worry about food bro. Pastry shops are everywhere.

Anne Franks' drum-kit.

Abigal van der Sloot

Barney's Coffee Shop for Cannibus Cup Winners, across the street is Barney's breakfast bar - great delicious breakfast (scrambled eggs intense recommended), across the street from Barney's is a really nice dutch bakery for some croissant goods. Baba's is another coffee shop which is pretty touristy.

Hit the heineken factory, van gogh, rijks museum, and house of boles (mixology museum) which comes with 2 drinks at the end. Anne Frank house but its kinda boring.

Other then that, it's pretty much it. A few other spots - city centre, leidsplein, museumplein, and vondel park.

Red light and the canals make for some good pictures.

also - 'if you see only. say something'

you'll know just look for the BNE's

also train from schipol is a definite, scrap the taxi and definitely use the trams to go north/south from centraal station

Clearly you must find the source of the lasers.

I heard that if you find the end of the lasers, there will be a pot of golden pills guarded by a trance-midget.

But that's ridiculous, we all know lasers don't have ends and that midgets aren't real.

no man, midgets are real.... when I was a kid I was abducted by midgets. The government's covering them up in order to protect the military-industrial complex... they have a secret base where they're reverse engineering a crashed midget ship... where do you think the smart car came from? Don't be a sheeple! The truth is out there, man.

THIS. Don't pay for a damn taxi from the airport. Take the trams or even rent a bike i you want to get around but don't have time / care to walk

Pretty much everything has already been said. Vondelpark is really nice and starting to get busy with picnics etc when it's sunny.

All in all, it's a nice, compact and relaxing city to hang out in without feeling overwhelmed or rushed to go see a ton of sites /museums etc unless there's really something that you already know you want to see.

Also, keep a map in your pocket. The streets in the center are NOT straight even though it sometimes seems like you might be walking in a relatively straight direction. If you can't find a map, all the tram stops have maps. It's easy to make wrong turns based on the assumption you were walking in a straight-ish line towards your intended destination

go visit Matsui in the coffee shop

Posted by Frenkieee on Apr-04-2011 20:29:

You're going to the Luminosity Trance Gathering, aren't you?

If you're going this weekend, that is..

I wouldn't know anything to go and see, can't remember the last time I went to Amsterdam by day

i went for my bday on halloween, it was crazy, most of it is a haze.

the trains are fun and the trams too. Way better run than things here. The whole shopping area at schiphol is a good idea too, esp if you're early for your return flight. Take a tour of the Ajax Stadium, and remember the legends who used to play for them. wander any markets and watch out for vehicles. they come from every angle and it's like a mindfuck. If you're not hit by a tram or a van it's a bike.

Its not the government....its big industry. Midgets are the solution to all the world's problems but big industry is trying to hide the technology to create more midgets as they fear they will go bankrupt if the secret gets out.

Van Gogh Museum was interesting, but I preferred the Monet paintings.

Walking around the town was also fun. It's a nice city
