Elementary School
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an astronaut. But, I am noticing that a lot of my students no longer have the desire to do anything with their lives, by the fourth grade! I had a student tell me that he wanted to be an accountant the other day, I almost cried.
Astronaut, truck driver, fire fighter, police officer, doctor, millionaire, and vice-president of Mergers and Acquisitions.
Well, except for that last part.
I think I wanted to be a pilot.
I wanted to be a Janitor or Garbage Man.
Even as a kid I could identify the jobs no one else wanted to do, and I'm a big fan of job security
I wanted to be an astronaut in grade 2.
Everybody told me all the years of hard work and school that would be required for me to do so...
so i just gave up in live at the tender age of 8.
now i drive a forklift.
ha, yeah. I think everyone sort of gives up on the fireman, policeman, teacher dream when they realize how little public service pays.
I actually wanted to open up a pizza hut on Mars. Because, I could be an astronaut and eat pizza all day. I'd tried that freeze dried food and hated it.
I still want to learn to fly! I have a savings account dedicated to saving up for flying lessons right now.
I just don't want to add more studies to the schedule right now.
same with astronauts and hearing about how much math is required. That kills most child's dreams for that.
I got the impression that everyone (including myself) wanted to be a marine biologist when we were kids. It wasn't until years later that I realized I formed this belief after asking like three people.
I wanted to be Rambo, sent to weird countries to kill people.
a lottery winner. even when i was young, i knew that my chances of being some type of drone was around 99%.
Lawyer. by the time i was old enough to understand the awful adult grind though i wanted to be

I wanted to be an author-illustrator. I used to make books all the time in my free time as a kid. It's kind of sad that I gave my creative side up. :/
occasionally you let your creative side out [seaweed bathing suit pic]
Architect, author, paleontologist, space explorer, train engineer, bus driver, ship captain, race car driver, video game designer, film director, movie star, pro baseball player... I think that covers the big ones.
Working in film and/or video games still drives me today, the other dreams have faded (from a practical standpoint, anyway, I still stare at the stars whenever I can). I just hope one day I have enough money to have a boat, a bus, a fast car, and the ability to pay to fly into space. That could at least take care of some of those. :P

And a race car driver.
I really can't remember what I wanted to be. Its a silly question to ask at that age. Oh yeah I think I wanted to be a dinosaur.
An FBI agent.

That and my dad's stories. He was a captain in the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior's counter-terrorism unit.
