Who really invented the telephone?
Ive always thought that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Today I read the newspaper, and I guess that the US congress has passed a resolution declaring that american Antonio Meucci is the man who invented the telephone.
Now maybe this is canadian vs us, but really...Who invented the Telephone?

same with the fact that, they dont say that the man who invented basketball was canadaian, but it was invented in MASS. *or wherever*
I remember reading somewhere Alexander Bell stole the idea from his next door neighbour...and patented it 11 mins be4 the other guy....dirty rotten thief
.... well seeing that i passed gr 5 soisal sience by doing a project on the phone.. last i checked.. it was Alexander Gramah bell... who was canadian and live in the staets.. for a bit.. ![]()
if i remember correctly, there were about 12 people who tried to patent it at the same time... and the trial went on for like 5 years or sumfn...
well alexander graham bell has the patent.. and at the end of the day thats what counts
I did
please don't tell anyone!

Search a bit on the net and u ll see it was not graham bell... some other guy invented it but was without budget and then he died.. then bell came and started working at the same lab as the guy that invented the phone.. he made minor modiphications and patented it..
uh well my story isn't acurate, but it wasn't bell..
zzl.
who really knows? most inventions are built my many people off of prior ideas and technologies? No one really invents the wheel. For example who invented the internet, computer, car,... In the example of the car probably Henry Ford would get credit because he lead the industry and excelled at mass production. History is sort of a popularity contest and usually remembers the most flamboyant instead of the true inventor.
alexander graham bell and antonio what ever did not invent the telephone..
the real man who invented the telephone was jesus LORD SAVE NAW'AHH!
Antonio Meucci didn't make it to the patent office before Alexander, therefore Alexander invented it.
Alexander had a summer home in Canada. He 'invented' it up here, but the closest patent office was in the U.S. where the patent was actually done.
americans are always trying to take credit for everything. in a lot of encyclopedias, they list graham bell as a "scottish-born american audiologist" even though he worked a great deal in canada, and died in cape breton. they also call einstein an american, even though he was raised and educated in germany....
Me invented da mobile phone and me develloped GSM/iMode/UMTS
It was actually my great, great, great, great grandfather; Symion Spadicus. But when he tried to ring the patent office to get the forms to fill in there was just an answerphone message saying the were only open 9am - 6pm. The next morning that bastard Bell had stole it.
