Dubstep @ Stereo
What are your opinions people? Free dubstep night at stereo this month..
one of my friend is playing there, i'm happy for him..!
fail.
Can't find details anywhere. When & who's playing? I'm all for it, though I'd prefer it's not the aggressive, mid-range, chainsaw stuff. There's plenty of dubstep and bass music that would fit just fine at Stereo.
Berghain has a monthly dubstep night, so why not?

People keep telling me that there's decent dubstep out there. I just have yet to hear it myself.
there is some good dubstep.
The Hessel Audio stuff seems to be one of the more consistent in terms of labels. Kyle Hall also makes decent tracks that could pass for dubstep...but i find it leans more towards grime. Shed, Martyn, Scuba, Shackleton and so on also have a few decent tracks that don't sound like cheesy garbage.
the general problem with the genre is that for every 1 good release that comes out, 99 others with big wonky baselines and more cheese than happy hardcore follow.
they should advertise it as a dubstep night then play nothing but grime and 2 step garage...the kids that listen to the majority of the shit dubstep won't be able to tell the difference and at the very least the djs could have a bit more good music at their disposal.
a dubstep track well placed in a house or tech set can be so win to change up the monotonous 4/4...that being said 5 or 6 hours of nothing but this would probably make any sober person turn to drugs that block out hearing.
yeah im not so much into dubstep but I love stuff from labels like hyperdub.

the last Burial release is insane!
another problem with dubstep is that the djs all play the same tracks like it was trance or something.
wonkstep is cheesier than trance by a country mile.
I enjoy Dubstep and Bass music, i just like making fun of the young kids who if you played them a Pangaea track wouldn't even know it would be considered dubstep.

*laughs at you for expecting me to waste my time talking about music to a guy that would prefer talking tampons*

There is no discussion. Playtex all the way.
its gonna rain today.

It's not a bad idea, it's something new for stereo. The tickets are around 10 dollars for the night the event is.
Seriously, when? I've found exactly 0 information on this anywhere. I'd genuinely be curious to check this out.
Labels that make consistently good bass music:
NonPlus+
3024
Black Box
Deep Medi Musik
Exit Records
Hemlock Recordings
Hessle Audio
Hotflush Recordings
Hum & Buzz
Hyperdub
Naked Lunch
Night Slugs
Punch Drunk
Ramp Recordings
Swamp 81
Tectonic
They all cover slightly different types of sounds, but dig into any one of those labels and you'll get a good idea of what some really great bass music (dubstep, garage, 2-step, uk funky, uk bass, drum and bass, whatever) sounds like.
Even Damon Albarn's label "Honest Jon's" released the latest Shackelton record and not to mention T++.
