EDC Vegas week in 2012 with pool parties? Might just happen.....
http://weeklyseven.com/nightlife/20...28/flower-power
i'm really hoping that it does happen next year. Not that i would go to see EDC but it would be awesome to have a WMC type week in Vegas with pool parties on the weekdays.
here's a link to another good article on the Vegas Electronic dj scene:

Issue I am having with Vegas at this moment is that it seems to be a very small number of DJs rotating through the city, across all venues. Even though they are pretty much all major DJs, it gets boring after awhile. Might be awesome for the occasional Vegas tourist, but for the diehards it just seems the excitement of it all is wasting away. At the beginning of this year, Vegas was being talked up by the die hards. But now since it's just the same DJs continuously, that's all becoming a part of the past.

Vegas is going to put in the clubs whatever names help sell tickets and at the highest price and fill the clubs. That simple.
I usually like to go to Vegas 3-4 times per year...then that dropped to 2x. Right now it is down to 1, and after this MDW, I'll see how I feel. My issue is the cost for flights from the bay area are not justifiable anymore, definitely not for multiple trips. ANY weekend is $250-$450 now. I can go to a lot of other places for that much $.
I would like to see some clubs in Vegas become "legends", but alas those days are gone. Most clubs are done within a couple years. Remember the days of Utopia? Ice? even Giant @ Hard Rock...I doubt we see any of the current *hot* clubs last that long, that has to be why Marquee is trying hard to protect their product so early in the game, cause they know.
5 year contract? that means the next 4 EDC event will all be in Vegas as well? Welp really sucks for those who can't afford to travel then. I like how they keep it 18+ and hopefully they can keep pre/post EDC parties 21+ like the clubs on the strip

I remember ICE!
Wasn't it involved in some reality TV show too?

Originally posted by bigperf so youd rather have vegas bringing in the trance dj's that play at circus on saturday nights as opposed to ferry, armin, pvd, markus, cosmic gate, matt darey, gareth emery, sander van doorn etc. I think the circus fans would take that switch straight up.

House is the only form of EDM in the US that's actually widely accepted by the mainstream population. Vegas has plenty of that.
a Cadenza pool party in vegas would make me

Originally posted by bigperf hey im not a trance head, just devils advocating. there is plenty of house in vegas, trust me! as for techno, there is a lot of techno too, you just wont find it at marquee or at the pools. and as for the person playing it, expect a local.

Originally posted by mindspin1 I'm not talking about Morillo Electro Diva House. There's no good tunes there. Aside from Spacebyrdz they have nothing. Lawler played Wet a while ago, said he would never go back. I'm just wishing here. There is zero market for any sort of current house, tech house, deep house sound. None at all. So I'll take it out on the craps and black jack tables.

Originally posted by Nerologic Not going to happen. I asked Sam this when I was in Miami, and I ask him all the time on FB. He gives me the same explanation every time. Cliff notes are, "Vegas" doesn't think they have big enough pull for a pool party...therefore they get low-balled and Luciano gets mad.

Originally posted by Cool1g i gotta agree with the thinking here... i can't see Luciano/Cadenza being a big draw at Wet or any other big pool... most of the people going to the vegas pool parties want more commercial/fun music than a what a Cadenza would be...
