Graphics question

ok was wondering when you make a graphic.. how do you make the background transparent? so that the background becomes whaterver color the background of the page is? like swamper's

im using adobe photoshop.. I deleted the background layer.. i made a couple dunno why they wont work.

in PS 6 all you have to do is delete the areas you want transparent (checkered bkgd) and save as a gif and PS will take care of the rest for you.

In older version of PS you needed to export as gif 89a and select the color which would be transparent.

I'm no Graphics expert but I believe that the picture has to be in GIF like this one

If the question was regarding your sig, your sig is not in GIF format...

ya, to make transparent pixels...has to be .gif file

i think there's a couple of other formats that support transparency, but gif is most popular

anyway, to make transparent bits, has to be a different colour to any other colour within the image...usually bright pink/green or something that stands out, so when u're creating the image u *know* which parts will be transparent

...the trick is when u save the file...save it as a .gif file...but most paint programs should allow you to choose transparency when u save as gif...then all you have to do is choose the colour you want to be tranparent & viola!

...note...gif files have to be 8-bit palatte, so i think that limits it to 256 colours...and you just choose one colour from the 256 colour table to make transparent

hope this is comprehendable

It also depends on the font, the less curvy it is the better it looks... Also, I don't use PSP- though I know you have some option that smoothes those pixel automaticly.
