remix comp #3

well there have been 2 other remix comps and both have ended up in either chaos or disinterest. perhaps the chosen track to remix didn't appeal to some people, i dont know. anyway, as a 3rd remix comp perhaps it would be fun to remix a 'real' track. a classic like cafe del mar or something new like... fuck knows.

to get this started i guess everyone would need to submit the track they'd like everyone to remix. then a poll with the chosen tracks so everyone can vote.

then offcourse we'll need some judges who are committed...

any ideas on this?

Thumbs up

Good Idea...

Heres some tracks that would be fun to rmx:

Airscape - L'Esperanza
BalericBill - Destination Sunshine
Gouryella -ligaya
Tony Walker - fields of joy

But then someone would have to figure out the melodys... Im not very good at that stuff. :/

Haha yeah...I got feeling I wont be choosen to judge this again.haha

Excellent idea!
I suggest Signum - Coming on strong to be remixed, I can provide the acapella for it too. Maybe I'll think of something better, but that's my suggestion for now

Posted by Veldrid on Aug-12-2002 04:45:

Ya, lets only try to suggest stuff we have midi's for guys. Otherwise this migh be a huge hassle.

Posted by DJ Chrono on Aug-12-2002 04:52:

flutlicht - icarus

airfire ft. talla 2xlc - no signs of life

some tracks are easy enough for one of us to make a midi and post it.

Posted by Robert on Aug-13-2002 00:21:

nah.. we don't need midi's...
i suggest solar stone - seven cities.. should be interesting.

Choosing one single track would be too friggin hard. I say choose a group of judges, then let them be arsed with choosing 5 tracks for the remixers to choose from. This way the chance that a remixer gets to remix a song he likes and wants to is higher.

if you going to get Judges you better think long and hard who you pick, cause last comp I was the only one that fully compleated the judging.

some one make this sticky

Im down for this. But i know whos gonna win

I am for Cafe del mar !

Perhaps we could search for judges in the Music Discussion or the chill out forum because there are much more people than here ( )

that might be a good idea. at the end of he week (friday evening (gmt+1) i'll make another thread+poll with the tracks that have been suggested. any suggestion after that will be too late.

well lets just put 2 of them together, when all the tracks are in posty a STICKY Thread in the music Discussion or the chill out where anyone can download and vote

ATM it looks like its everyone against Robert and robstar

Im in agreeance with HaaK if he has the accepella, it would be cool to remix other tunes aswell with accepella

Re: remix comp #3

i use midi to grab a hold of the track's notes for remix. i have several midis online at my page. but shouldn't a simple midi like pjotr g made be enough to get going on a track?

odrori : personally i think 5 tracks will be too much or dangerous to the compo since we would have like 5 remix compo's at the end if something goes wrong

the last point is that i think the judges should be chosen before the compo starts, that way the judges know what they're about to do later on. maybe think out a clear rating system too... everyone followed in peter's steps last time and in the end he happened to be the only one rating it completely.

cheers,
Wim/LW

That's a good idea. We don't need no judges, so everyone can decide, which is the best track.

Or is it too dangerous because some might have more friends here at tranceaddict, which would vote for them ?

I think it is easier to compare all the contributions if we only have
one track to be remixed...

that is a good idea to get everyone to vote. to stop the 'ive got more friends=votes than you' problem the tracks would have to be anonymous.

Posted by delphini blue on Aug-13-2002 18:19:

nice idea.

Yeah i agree it should only be one track. how bout 5 tracks are picked by whoever is going to judge it then the people who are going to enter vote in poll. the winning track is then the track to remix. ?

good idea tho

no Judging for me this time with the time on my hands I might just be in this one.

I think the judges were picked to early last time and lost interest 2 weeks later, anyway lets just hope we can fully compleat this one

thats right only have the name of the track and when its over reveal who produced it

Posted by Robert on Aug-17-2002 01:14:

right.. in about 12 hours i'll start a new thread with a poll for all the nominated tracks.. so post your track in this thread before then... or else....

Posted by mantisnl on Aug-17-2002 13:31:

Posted by DJ Sarah H on Aug-19-2002 03:50:

Valid users will be any members of Tranceaddict that joined at least 3 weeks before the last date of submitting the remixes... To avoid having users join TA just for the comp.

Any of the files must NOT be spread across the web under any name before the end of the competition, this is very important!

All artists may only submit one mix, if they submitted one and then decided to rework it or something the 2nd mix will not be valid to enter.

Just wanted to post this here too.
