YOU PLAYING SPR UNDGRND MNML?

wow, i just looked up 'MEDMA' - very impressive student group.

when i was in school I started my own 'Electronic Music Collective', but it did not take off at all like yours. I also started mine in 2005. Damn, I suck. Made a lot of friends though, and met my partner because of it!

Props!

The mix is nice so far too.

We also started in 2005! Best thing that happened to me in undergrad, and really opened my ears up to all the awesome music out there that I wouldn't have otherwise known about.

I hope you guys like it! I only started making mixes recently, so I'd really appreciate any feedback. Some of these tracks were pretty difficult to work with, so I know there are a few rough spots.

Well I thought this mix was fabulous. For a first techno mix it's really impressive. It's groovy, funk, deep, proper techno. It's the soundtrack to a great techno night out. Nice work.

My only suggestions would be be firstly to be careful with the phrasing of your transitions - a couple of the transitions were an eighth note out of phase. It didn't sound bad because it's techno, but it can disrupt mess up the groove. I think mixing out of phase like that only works when the tracks work on both the upbeat and downbeat, and it can cause a really great mindfuck effect, but it needs to sound deliberate.

Secondly, the intro track was good, but I thought the track after was a bit too hard and dark and late night for the beginning of the mix. Overall it had a really nice flow though, not much to speak of in the way of narrative progression, but it was just straight up brutal techno, so it was good.

Thanks for sharing.

As another fellow member of MEDMA, thanks for the kind words nefardec!

Maybe if the mood strikes you will check out another exposure mix or two?

It's really nice to see people giving this a listen outside of our immediate group! Good job shorty!

Yeah, I had an issue with phrasing with the last one I tried to make. I was told to use the 32-measure rule as a guideline. I'm just going to need more practice to figure this one out.

Thanks for listening!

well any multiple of 8 bars really. 32 bars is a long time. that's 1 minute at 128 BPM.

The issue was more that the beats were aligned 1/8th note off from one another - so the downbeat of one track was coinciding with the upbeat of the other.
