Serato SL-1 and PC laptops/ issues intel core i5

Unfortunatley i Have an intel i5 chipset and pulled out teh old serato SL-1 from the closet to use again. I soon found out there was an issue with the USB 1.1 and the workaround install of the 2.2 software update limits you from using an external mouse.

I've seen some people saying use a USB hub, but no testimony of it actually working. Is anyone in the same situation and has dealt with the issue? Or does everyone just buy macbooks. I would like to know if anyone knows or is using a feasible work around to have an external mouse to use with serato.

-Haven't tried the USB hub strategy but willing to purchase one if someone has had it work.

-I also read somewhere that disabling the legacy USB (dos USB) from the bios could resolve the issue (error code 10), but i am unfamiliar on how to access this bios menu, as it appears that insydeH20 Acer bios is oversimplified and has little configuration options (AFAIK).

basically a review of the issue.
