Creating Trancy Synths and Leads

I was just wondering if anybody has any hints/tips in creating good sounding synths, perhaps Rank1ish.

I'm just sorta getting into production and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for taking your time to reply, checked out the other thread a lot of useful info and a lot of dead links so I couldn't really check what the guys were talking about.

As for the lange suggestion, kinda hard to use that without actually knowing how to get the sound in the first place, if the sound is wrong no equing, frequency/renosance cutoff will give it that right sound

I'll experiment more and we'll see what I can come up with.

I think that not all of the links are dead and that some of the infos ( e.g. -> layering sounds ) should have helped you a little bit.

Just a follow up, after some hours of expirmentation I've found that the problem really is creating soft/warm synths as the thread you pointed me towards mentioned. All the things i've tried I've got a very rough and harsh synth sound, not the soft stuff that almost sounds like strings.

I've checked out all the links, the only one that worked is your awakening sample and someone's attempt to do the armin mix of janeiro (I belive that was it).

I've learned a lot of about layering and about adding effects to get a nicer and more pleasing sound but the general issue about getting a softer sound still remains.

lots of layering.

adding a delay will help rich your synth.

Believe me I've tried all those things, it just seems impossible to get rid of the harsh buzz sound that's so typical. I took a close listen to some songs and the synth is so clean that it sounds like strings.

what program do you use ? Reason subtractor ?

Fruityloops

Although I have picked up Reason, the interface is just so unintuitive.
