how to make massive basslines?
I've been listening to a lot of Cirez D lately and my god, the bass in his songs are simply amazing.
go to 0:30 --> and listen to the bass when it drops. boom
any idea what he does to make those massive basslines? (logic pro preferably?) I think that sounding bass will be able to make anyone get down..
I think its logic.

you can hear it in a lot of his songs, this one for example..
today I was also listening to axwell's 'heart is king' and noticed a similar sounding bassline coming in at 0:26 here
p.s. do you think that's the only bass they're using in the songs.. just a kick and that bassline? or is there like a deeper bass that i can't hear on a laptop that makes it sound so massive live..
Live bass always sounds huge. As others have mentioned.
A lot of dance theses days gets most of it's bottom end energy from the bass drum. They have long subby tails, a lot of actual basslines are not as heavy as you think.
Detune two saw tooth waves, mess about with the filter cut off (either a high pass or a low pass depending on your taste) get it to fit with a 909 or 808 style bassdrum.
Alternatively, try layering some saws with a sine wave an octave or two below the saws, mess about with the levels of each oscillator.
The Track you posted "Tomorrow" Is deffo a sine bassline with either a square or saw layered gently over the top, then it has that running arp thing over that too.
A lot of it is the kick though.

in that video what moves the people is the kick, not the bassline. And is the start of the set it seems, everyone is excited...
What I find funny is that in that Eric Prydz video, the fog machine plays a vital role in the drop you mentioned, providing the white noise. Just listen when it suddenly stops making fog, the tracks falls apart

Pick your favourite live dj set:
-Instead of playing it on a 300.000W soundsystem with 3d visual effects play it on a 50W speakers, daylight, no effects.
That set is incredibly crappy isn't it? Techno (and don't kill me plz) isn't more than kick snare hats and a bass (and yet please understand what i mean) but works incredibly well on big sound systems, visuals make the difference a lot of times.
Watching a film without audio---> Shit
Watching a film without image---> Shit
With music really works in a similar way besides it shouldn't
My partner in crime thinks I ought to hit the road with him at long last so I'm pondering this whole DJ lark for the first time. I noticed in the first vid here that the DJ gives off quite a decent vibe with his body language. I noticed this a lot with SVD too.
So being able to nod the head in the right way is real important eh?
there are some "stupid" things like clapping during breakdowns, jumping like a monkey or making hearths with the hands that are indeed stupid but help to get people into your set, a dj that keeps looking to a screen and doesn't connect with the crowd isn't a good dj, there are extremes of course David Guetta does nothing apart from this, but if you seem excited during the build up people will be, you are the leader of the pack, you rule over their movements.

I know someone mentioned the fog machine but I had to rewind like 5 times cause everytime it shuts off I get this akward feeling like "where'd the music go?". And it almost looks like all the kids in the crowd stop real briefly for a milisecond to look at the DJ and make sure he's still dancing. Then they quickly get back into it. How akward. Just goes to show people have no clue what good music is when you gotta look to the person next you to confirm its not weird to keep dancing. I am exagerating a bit too but it does look like theres a brief pause in the crowd when the machine goes out. And that beat also sounds like shit, nothing interesting about it. Guess thats why extacy was invented.

This is the track:

The bassline sounds like two different basslines playing off each other.
EDIT: This doesn't sound like that massive of a bassline. As other people said, it's the club that made it sound massive.
first time i played one of my tracks in a club i was really impressed, the kick was peaking at 0dbs or something like that because red lined the mixer (my first production you know) but at the same time it sounded overhelming but in a good way, i think i only noticed the white noise crunchs on top of that to be honest
Just listened to the clean sample of that tune.
It is just a very bass heavy subby kick with a long tail.
The bassline is a saw with a sine layered underneath pitched down 1 or 2 octaves. There is some slight verb on the saw part of the bass.
The Saw sounds highpassed too, but that could also just be EQ.
Listen to this tune, it will help you understand how the kick make most of the bottom end in current dance music. (Yes I know the tune itself is shit.)
