playing mp3s live

i remember a discussion about a similar topic not too ling ago, but i could not find it in search. anyways, i have a huge gig coming up and i want to drop the progressive tune: bluephaze - the bell (ocean wave remix)....but i only have it in 192kbps MP3...and i cannot find the record anywhere. my question is will the sound quality be good, or will it sound like shit. the system i will be playing on is quite large and very good quality. any opinions are welcome.

thanks,
beatnik

i dont think it will sound bad, depending on your equipment

it may not have as much punch as a record would....im also thinking that the hiss would be something to keep an ear out on as well...so i'd suggest testing the song on the speaker system before playing it live in front of any people

The crowd won't be able to tell the difference (if it's a well-ripped Mp3 of course, but since you said 192kbps, you'd probably be ok)

I'm assuming that they have cd decks so just burn it onto cd

does MP3 converted to wav sound any better than the original mp3? Any loss of sound quality must have happened in mp3 as well. How are you planning to play the mp3 and mix it in?

Once I tried to use a Laptop and BPM-Studio for Mp3's but it's even worse than using CD's.
I'd recommend that only if you can get your hands on that hardware interface for BPM-Studio. Then it's just like playing CD's. Everything else is just too hard to handle.

I have that record. I dind't know it was progressive and not trance. What makes it prog?

yes i am planning to burn to a cd and yes i will test it out at the venue before the night begins. ok DJ-Kuza, maybe it is really dark trance with some progressive pounding to it. to me it is progressive because when i think trance i think tiesto/oakenfold/pvd/avb/and
ferry type stuff, but it is a matter of opinion so no big deal........thank you all for the advice.

......anyone from chicago gonna come see me at my gig?

It was a serious question, not a rehtorical one. I can't tell what is progressive and what's Trance anymore. I want to know the technical difference.
