Thinking of starting my own radio show...

Ok, so I'm thinking about starting a radio DJ show. I like what Tiesto is doing with the Club Life. I'm thinking of taking a similar approach with the website and then videos on Youtube of the set. Do a show like once a week or so. Sounds like a great idea. A great opportunity. What are some steps I can take to get this going. Thanks.

Example:

let me know when you get it started I will give it a listen.

If you have talent or something you'd like to show the world something new, go for it.

If it's just some mixes like every other DJ, just apply for a spot in an internet radio or satellite radio.

Don't pick a stupid DJ-this DJ-that

Just pick a cool name like above and beyond did. Or armin van buuren.

Dj-____ to me sounds like just another shitty DJ.

but ill def listen.

I hate what Tiesto is doing. Pick someone else to aspire from or else I won't listen.

the most important thing tiesto has in his podcast is a voice over lady saying amazing things like, "Greatest DJ...OF ALL TIME"

I think we will need to create a few for you like,

"There are DJs, there is Jesus, and then there is 'Professional DJ Name'"

"'Professional DJ Name'...the economic cure for all countries"

"These tunes are bound to get you laid"

Steps you can take to start this up:

Step 1: Don't do any of your own research, or anything yourself. Just post on a message board and hope that you might get all of the answers.

Step 2: Start a facebook fan page even if no one knows or cares who you are. Start a thread on a message board asking how to do it and how to get more fans.

Step 3: Go into the DJ section of a message board and make noob threads essentially asking how to do everything making you look like you consider yourself a dj before you even know how to do it.

Step 4: Buy a scarf

Step 5: Get better taste.

Step 6: Your grandmother is a cunt. *jazzhands*

Hope this helps man, no one cares. All the time you waste making pointless threads about your nonexistent "career" that is never going to happen is time wasted. People that really want to do it just do.

You reek of vicks and cliche mix names with sunset in the title.

Absolutely. I agree 100 percent. I don't even have "DJ" in my name so we're good .

1- you have no knowledge
2- you're too lazy to search for information yourself
3- you don't have an ounce of originality in your idea

your dj name should be the least of your problems

Some people are so dense it's shocking.

It actually probably shouldn't be shocking at this point.

if your gonna do it.. do it properly.. no half assy, no replicating what someone else has done.
i co-run a radio station online and its not just a case of opening stream when you feel like streaming for an hour or 2. if your planning on creating a regular slot/show, dont just get any ol idiot to guest for you that no-one cares about, try and get some bigger names, but dont become too predictable, or you wont stand out at all. but at the same time, you need to find talent of your own.. i.e DJs that people might recognise the name of but perhaps didnt give the chance, and develop them as your residents.

soo all at the same time, your pushing your amateur-self, trying to promote people who are slightly on the rise, whilst trying to get some big names that will get people listening.

but it dosnt just stop there, you need a decent designer to advertise your stuff, otherwise youll get no listeners. you need to advertise everywhere, cos no matter how good a show you thin k you have got lined up, youd be suprised how much people need persuading to tune in.

jingles - you need to make the whole thing sound professional with priofessionally sounding interludes, so it all dosnt just sound like some cvnt in his bedroom broadcasting.

and above all else. secure a fanbase, and listen to their needs and wants.

id imagine your gonna do this as a part time hobby.. cos your not gonna make any money from it at all. and let me tell you, it'll sap up a lot fo your free time to make it a success.

good luck anyways man

None of these things you listed seem like an issue to me at all.

Obviously it would start out as a hobby and then if I'm satisfied with how it's going and the reception is good I will take it a step further.

why don't you start by learning how to dj first ? "shit before paper" has never been so apparently needed.
