MySpace sells for $35M...

MySpace has been sold for $35M by News Corp after they bought it for $580M in 2005. Apparently Justin Timberlake and another media company join forces to buy it too.

I wasn't referring to the money. I was referring to the fact that MySpace went downhill fast once FB hit the internet, so it may be sad to see his baby losing popularity.

I never had a MySpace account, and never will...I thought the social networking part of the site was weak. But it was/is a great way to check out a few songs from bands coming into town. There are a few other new alternatives (soundcloud,bandcamp) but usually when I google a band's name their Myspace page is the first result.

I hope it sticks around at least for music purposes.

Did they watch The Social Network and think Justin Timberlake can do what he did in the movie?

This was where I first stored TA MP3s for download since I got 5MB increase in quota for every 'email' (non-verified) I referred to them. I had 50+ gigabytes of space -- back in 2000 to have 10+ gigs of storage and unmetered bandwidth (for free) was unheard of.
