The Amphitheater in Tampa - Question...

I was curious... does anyone know what time the main events start at this club? I saw that Ferry Corsten is playing on September 1 (it's on his site), so I want to head over with my girl... I just want to know how long he's going to be spinning for. I'm using to hearing him play in Miami for 3 or 4 hours, but I saw him in Orlando at the Roxy in May and thought it sucked that he only played for an hour and a half. Does anyone know what time and how long Above and Beyond played recently? I know they close at 3, so I'm sure he's not going to play all night (which SUCKSSS). All your answers are much appriciated!

DJs usually come on around midnight. I think Markus Schulz & Above & Beyond came on set around that time. In the past they bring them around 130am for only an hour and half but since they re-opened Amp, it has changed. Hope this helps.

Markus came on for only 1.5-2 hours and the sound shut off 3 times. I forget the exact time he started though but I'm pretty sure it was semi late.

Worst club ever. I wouldn't go, even if it was for my favorite DJs. They also never responded to emails in which I asked multiple questions.

Everything about this place sucks / is a complete waste of time... unless you expect it to be bad and don't care about quality of the venue.

Amp

DjHafownz, I encourage you to check out an event and make up your own mind. All of PaulCky411's issues with this venue can be attributed to the club throwing a show before its actual grand opening. The world is an imperfect place and if things can go wrong, they will...

But the world could be a lot better if everyone took customer service seriously... it's what business owners are encouraged to do in every single book I've ever read. You can't be successful in a business without pleasing your customers.

They should be held accountable for everything that went wrong and since they never responded to multiple inquiries, I'm going to continue telling everyone about the problems until they do respond.

I wasted my time and money on an event that I absolutely hated... and it's all because of them. I've been all over the world to experience different venues, some good, some bad, and I seriously had the worst clubbing experience of my life at this place.

But yea, I do encourage everyone to check it out for themselves... if you've ever been any where that's any good, you will realize in a matter of seconds that this place is a joke.

The Amphitheater in Ybor is the BEST venue for DJs to perform here in Tampa! It's spacious and the air in there is super cool unlike most clubs where it's a sweat box. They used to have cryo air blast but I don't know if they still have it. I don't remember seeing it again. They have one of the best sound systems in Tampa! The only time I've experienced any trouble with it was when Markus Schulz was there. It did shut off like 3x so that was very annoying. But since then they've fixed the problem. And I've been back numerous times and no issues. So I would recommend you going to experience this club and form your own opinion about the place.

Paul, no offense, but you are comparing apples to oranges, when you compare the Amp to "anywhere that's good." The Amp is in Tampa, which is not a clubbing destination like Miami or Ibiza. In the USA, you rarely get to hear an extended set of more than 2-2.5hrs from headliners. Most clubs in the states close at 2am or 3am with a few exceptions. That is, unless you go to a clubbing mecca like Miami, where the laws allow the clubs to stay open later. The Amp never advertised that Markus' set would be more than 2hrs. Maxdady25 has been back numerous times since and reported no power issues, so the complaint about the power cutting out seems to have been addressed, although not directly to you.

Thanks guys for your help. My girl and I LOVEEEE ferry, so regardless of the club, if he's in town or close by, we're going to make the trip. I just wanted to see how long he would be playing for. I've seen pictures and videos of the club - it's alright, but to be honest with you, i'm not going there because of the venue - i'm going there because of the talent inside the venue. I just hope he plays for 2 hours or more... what are the chances he'll play 2 or 3 hours? 1 1/2 hours is bullshit if you ask me. I know in Miami he's played for 3, sometimes 4 hours, but I'm sure that he plays shorter sets in clubs that close early.

Actually, the last couple of times Ferry has played here at the Amp he has gone on around midnight. I notice they do give Ferry a little bit of a longer set.

March 2006, was the last time at Amp. I found a few videos from that night taken by FLTA, Trancebrat:

I do agree with you, however, I'm still not pleased about the quality of their customer service.

In my opinion, I think that all customer related inquiries should be dealt with in a professional manner... but, I'm not the owner so I can't make that decision... oh well.

With that being said, Jackson's is the only place in Tampa that seems to consistently provide fun times (on the terrace). It's just unfortunate that they never try bringing in any trance DJs.

Paul,
I will add you to the Suzy Solar guest list for the Andy Moor show on August 5th. After the show, if you still have any gripes with the club, I will attempt to introduce you to one of the owners so you can voice your concerns if needed.
As far as Jackson's goes, they're a super cool crew of people, real down to earth and very passionate about House music. They book Suzy a few times a year, and when they do, she plays mid range tempo, trancey stuff like the videos below.

Damn that was the last time Ferry played there? Makes me feel old. I guess since I remember seeing him at Floyds and Green Iguana it would be that long ago.
