-- I feel like venting . . . .
I feel like venting . . . .
OK, i feel like venting, so Im gonna vent.
Everyone has a right to an opinion, so here's my opinion.
Lately, I've been seening a lot of hatred towards America in the forums coming from American citizens and it pisses me off because I feel that it is sending a negative image to people from other countries. I am not arguing the fact that a lot of things in our country does not make any sense, believe me, I KNOW. Everytime I read about someone bashing America in general, it hits me personally and I just want to say, "WTF is wrong with you?". I find a lot of times the people that bash America, are the ones with their priorities mixed up.
I am not in the military, nor do any of my family members work for the government. We are not extremely wealthy and my sister and I are the only ones from my immediate family that are natural born citizens. My parents came to the United States to escape communism and since then, they have tried very hard to get us where we are today with starting off with no money. If it wasnt for this country, Id probably be living in the shitters, doing a shitty ass job after graduating from a shitty ass school.
I could go on and on about this, but for all of you who talk shiet about our country, I challenge you to bash America to the face of anyone who took a bullet for your lame asses.

When Americans bash America it's the stupid parts of America they are bashing...not America in general. There are bad parts of America like how our government makes a lot of dumb decisions and how a lot of ignorant people live here. There are also good parts how one can be free here and be successful. America is a good place indeed but it has it's share of problems, I think it's really these problems people bash.
Well, originally, this thread was aimed at Americans bashing America. Im sure all the other countries think Americans are stupid as I much as I think some other countries are as well.
But i think people should stop complaining about the little things and think about the big picture.
There are Americans here that complain about the government spying on citizens and that is understandable. It is violating our privacy. But they fail to understand the fact that there are terrorists in the country that are american citizens as well and the mexicans are smuggling muslims into america like crazy. Besides, the government have been spying on ppl since the beginning of time anyway so who cares?
But you wont have any rights to complain about once youve been blown up by a terrorist would you?

here we go again
Busy Child, you are not going to create another flamewar between Canadians and Americans.
The problem with Americans is their "we are the greatest and the best in the world"-attitude. That is why so many people hate America nowadays. I can see it here in Holland too, since Sept. 11 the hatred against the US has grown dramatically. The only thing the US cares for is ruling the world, they don't give a shit about the environment. Did you guys know that Americans use 50% of the resources that gets used in one day.... while there are only 300 million americans in this world.
and about the Americans bashing America part:

I dont want to start a history debate because im sure every country has taught their students different views to every event.
Its pointless, and gets nowhere.
And I was not flaming canadians. Please read the earlier posts and maybe thatll clear things up.
Cheers.
i think i've seen this exact thread 10 times
<---- American
However I still have plenty of stuff to hate/flame/complain about. And if a situation arises were the goverment did something stupid I'll be right there bitching about it. I don't see how that helps give our country a bad image, it certantly can't make it any worse. Why do you (or anyone for that matter) get so upset when Americans bash America anyways? Is it because of the tradgedy of Sept 11th? Is it because of the faux patrotism so many people have these days? One thing I personally am sick of is all the faux patrotism people have been showing since then. Seriously how many people had american flags on there cars and doors before then, probably a hundreth as the amount of people who had them in the months after. How many people instantly went from "This countrys dershit", to "We have to stick together because were great"? Me thinks to many.
good point.
Well, after some alcohol in me on this friday night, im done venting now. Thanks for all the responses and i hope the mods close this thread. Id hate to see an international flame war go on in here.
Cheers.
i feel scared and caged in... can anyone save me?

i think in general its stupid when ppl bash another country. ppl around the world have pretty much the same goals, earn a living so they can support their family, give their children a chance for a better life, and have some fun in the process. We're too busy with our lives to try to control what our governments does. Most american would agree bush is a silly patriotic dope, with big business in his backpocket.
I always hear ppl complaining how the US hoggs the world's resources, this is true but if you were raised in the US you would do the same thing. Cars for example, if you want a job in the US you must own one. No one is going to say gee i'm not goin to get a car cause that would be wasteful, you just do what ever is the norm or what ever it takes to survive.
anyways just wanted to get that off my chest b4 i go nite nite.
:-)

If im not mistaken, youre from canada. You are right, American soldiers do not take bullets for Canadians. |
I have dual citizenship : french american, yet I feel swiss for having lived there so many years.
I've been to the usa one year almost ( august 24 th 2001 I arrived ) and I knew it that before coming here I did not want to stay.
I see the usa as three types of areas,
big cities ( which rock )
suburbia and deep america ( which both blow )
I live in suburbia; I HATE IT! this year has officialy been the worst of my life, but it's really do to with the location. I am a big city person.
to conclude,I know for a fact that the only things that will ever keep me attached to the usa are purely materialistic ( the fact stuff is cheaper )
apart from that , I'd take any country in Europe , any day.
and concerning americas position there is no denying, the average person thinks this country is the bomb, it obviously is on some grounds but not on all; far from it. this is really an ever lasting debate.
oh and americans should also educate themselves more so they could possibly gain more respect worldwide.
