Review: Beats Ahoy Canada Day Cruise

Was really disappointed that Chus & Ceballos weren't playing upstairs/outside but they kicked so much ass downstairs and I had an outstanding time. C&C BROUGHT it!! We need a cruise with them each and every summer! I don't see another party topping this

Videos to come later this week... left my camera in Mississauga

They played an epic set...Stereo Montreal style with some summertime tunes mixed in...

Great job by the promoters with this party, really good crowd and vibe.

Chus and Ceballos were getting hounded with photo requests while they were mixing. They were professional and polite each time, but people should really wait until after the set to ask for pictures.

Beats Ahoy does it again! AMAZING party. C&C and Green Velvet rocked it. It was nice to have both floors featuring international talent of that calibre. Joel was great too. I think those are all the sets I caught. I will NEVER get sick of Shake & Pop. Such a fun track to sing along/dance to We were very lucky with an absolutely gorgeous day!! As always on the beats ahoy cruises, the crowd was good looking, friendly, and not sketchy AT ALL. Good vibes, good music, good weather, and good ppl. 10/10

Who ever brought the inflatable water animals on the boat. THANK YOU. lol I love props.

I have to say that this was one of the best boat cruises we have ever been on. After last years Victor Calderone fiasco with the sound problems on the boat, I was honestly a little concerned but everything that went wrong with that cruise was corrected to perfection on this one. Great people all around...good friends new faces and old!!!

And the music was bliss!!!! I have to agree...it is mandatory that these two come and play atleast 4 hours on a boat EVERY SUMMER!!!! no ifs, maybes or buts about it....Toronto loves them and it was clearly obvious that they love playing here too...OH CANADA was a moment and a half!!!

Good work Beats Ahoy!!!! Thank you for restoring my faith in boat cruises.

First time on a boat cruise in Toronto and had a blast. Arrived early just to make sure im not one of those guys that delays the boat. In the end the boat still left late (12:45ish).

At least, I had some time to down a few beers before the bar became a zoo! They really need more staff at the bars, holy crap. Checked out the boat and realized C&C were playing downstairs....definitely a bummer considering the beautiful weather outside.

Being my first boat in TO, i cant comment on other boats....but the boat selection could have been better. The outside deck is super small and the inside was a sauna!

C&C were relentless and had everyone with a perma smile on their face. I havent danced this hard in a while. Man do I love those guys. They kept skipping outside to catch some air! You can tell they were having an absolute blast.

everyone asking for personal photos

god. Looking/listening to those vids I really am pissed I skipped & missed the boat cruise. So glad I caught them the night before at Guv. Absolutely love their sound as of late & would love to see/catch them again here in the city before summer's done.

Actually, considering the # of people on this boat that departure time was EXCELLENT. Props to all involved for getting us out on the water by that time.

Finished the cruise on the upper deck with Joel spinning... Fun times!

p.s. Jon, nice shirt.

I noticed there wasn't a time for when the 'boat leaves sharp' on the ticket. Probably a smart move since I've never heard of a boat EVER leaving on time. I was also impressed with the departure time. An hour and 15 minutes it really good for a boat that size.

I used to have one that said "I made out with Kelly Kapowski" in a fancy cursive font but it got stolen

Posted by Digit ILL on Jul-06-2011 04:53:

where is Kelly now?

man, i'd eat the peanuts out of her poo when i was a teenager

This cruise was WAY better than the Calderone cruise last Canada Day, hands down. Musically it was even better than the last C&C boat cruise 2 years ago! In fact, if they played even half of their set upstairs it would rank as the best Canada Day cruise for me!

I love how C&C just absolutely tore the main floor up. It was hot and sweaty and the beats definitely contributed to that! Sunglasses would fog up after a few minutes so they came off quite frequently lol. I can tell they are getting back to their tribal roots, and I think it's because tech is slowly fading. Thank god! More drums, heavy progressive beats and vocals yes!!

This was by far the most organized cruise I've been on to date, and actually left at 12:45pm!! Actually on time for such a massive cruise! Didn't think it was possible with all the horror stories I've heard lol! Cut Pat some slack, it was his first cruise They had excellent beer selection, decently priced, and a cooler of cold lemon water to fill up water bottles or cups to keep ourselves hydrated. Didn't get a chance to try their burgers but they smelt really really good Only thing was that they were short staffed (bottom floor was quick - but towards the end got slow too with everyone double fisting )

Great cruise. Had an absolute blast!!

C&C totally delivered !! Truly world-class and very eclectic, pumpin' duo! Indeed, big ups to the organisers as things went smoothly overall. I did not notice anyone getting carried away by emergency personnel on zodiac for partying irresponsibly. Although some peeps may have been bordering on that!

Bumped into Green Velvet as he jumped on the boat. He laughed at my Vibram footwear (kind of gloves for the feet) and...he was wearing a pair himself...green of course! Such a down-to-earth guy! We lost it upstairs when he dropped some sick twisted techno. What a fantastic cruise!

dude, where did you get those. I want a pair lol.

Posted by oldskool94 on Jul-09-2011 03:45:

They are seriously comfortable. Can dance 10-12hrs in them no prob - did so at DEMF for the last 2 yrs. I'm sure you can find them at most high-quality sports / outdoor adventure stores. Just ask for them by Vibram brand name.
